WHO IS TO BLAME

Part 5

"Congratulations" said miss Essie and after all the joy they all had supper silently until miss Essie broke the silence.

"Wow! I dint know you cook such tasty food" said Esther

"He is a good cook miss Essie. He makes tasty food that you'll bite your fingers" said princess.

"Hats off" said Esther and Rashid smiled making miss Essie glued at him.

"He has the cutest smile too" said princess looking at Essie who looked away shyly. She looked at her watch and saw that it was 8:20 pm.

"Oh my God i have to go. Dad will scold me for being late"said miss Essie

"Why would he scold you? You are not a kid are you?" Asked Princess

"Princess! Dont mind her miss Essie. Parents will always be parents. You should go. Thanks for having supper with us" said Rashid

"Thanks too. It was a wonderful moment. Sleep early princess, you still have school tommorrow" said miss Essie and kissed her forehead. Rashid saw her out and watched as she drove away. She arrived home almost 9pm and her father was really angry.

"There comes your daughter. Ask her where she's been. Doesn't she know that dinner is exactly at 7pm?" Said Esther's father to Esther's mother.

"Where were you Esther?" Asked her mom

"Mom i was with a friend" said Essie not facing her mom.

"Friend? Is that friend of yours better than dinner with your family? Now go shower and come for dinner" said her mom

"Am sorry mom. I actually had dinner with my friend. Am not hungry" said Esther.

"Oh wow. You see that? Her friend is better than family. I asked her to be a doctor but look, she became a teacher. She never listens to me. You always pamper her now see. She will be poor all her life just because of a wrong career she chose. Less money less income. If she had been the surgeon i wanted her to be she would be really rich. Am sure the friend is as poor as her. But not to worry, my money will make you look rich as usual" said the father mockingly.

"Dad i did whatever you wanted me to and i never complained. Am a grown up now, let me make my own decisions" said Esther

"Oh! She talks back now. She is grown up now. You want to destroy your life? I will never let you do what you want. You will only turn out poor and embarrass me. You better talk to your daughter Rebecca!" Said her father and furiously left for his room.

"How dare you Esther? To your room now and let this not repeat itself again" shouted Rebecca to her daughter who left to her room in tears.

"Why does dad only think about money? Does he even care about my feelings, what i want and not what he wants?" Cried Esther hitting the pillow on her mattress. Just then she received a call from a new number.

"Now who is this calling me at such a moment" said Esther angrily and picked up the call.

"Hello" said Esther harshly

"Hello its Rashid. Princess's brother" said the caller and Esther went mute for a while.

"Rashid?" Said Esther not knowing how to feel at that moment. She even forgot that she had been crying a while ago.

"Am i bothering you?" Asked Rashid

"N..no no. Its just that i dint expect your call" said Essie

"Well i actually called because i need your help" said Rashid

"What is it? Is princess fine?" Asked Essie worried.

"Yes she is fine" said Rashid

"Then what is it?" Asked Esther impatient as Rashid scratched his head on the other hand. Princess was asleep already.

"Well...I... you see princess is a girl and she is growing really fast. So...so... I mean there are some things i wont be able to teach her. I hope you understand" said Rashid finding it hard to say everything straight.

"Oh! You mean like when she becomes adolescent and finally joins puberty?" Asked Essie

"Yes thats what i mean" said Rashid

"Thats not a problem Rashid. I'll help you with that" said Essie smiling

"Thank you so much. Goodnight" said Rashid releaved

"Goodnight" replied Essie and they both hang up but Essie was more than overjoyed. Rashid had finally called her. She even forgot what her father had said and was now dancing up and down the bed.

"Esther you are crazy. Just a phone call is making you go crazy. What if he sneaked to your room and proposed?" Asked Essie to herself and laughed. She then took her towel and rushed to the bathroom.

Two days passed and the two had started to get along even though they dint text nor call. Whenever Essie brought princess home, they chit chatted with for a while and had supper before she went home. Essie made sure she arrived home with a better excuse of having a private tuition and her father extended dinner to 8:30pm.

That Friday, Essie received a text from Rashid and as usual, she was the happiest.

Rashid: hi Essie

Essie: hi Rashid

Rashid: Your dad dint scold you i guess

Essie: he extended dinner to 8:30pm. He cant scold me anymore.

Rashid: wow what was your excuse this time?

Essie: Private tuition. Crazy right?

Rashid: Crazy but smart. I could never think of such an excuse. You are smart

Essie: Is that a compliment?

Rashid: Maybe

Essie: Well thanks. Do you know that you are the first friend i've had that is a boy?

Rashid: Damn i dint know

Essie: Now you know. But i know am not your first friend who is a girl

Rashid: Why do you say so

Essie: Princess keeps talking about you and Fatuma. Who is she? I've never seen her around

Rashid: Oh Fatuma. She is a very close friend. She has been helping me alot. She is such a wonderful girl but now she is in Zanzibar

Essie: You miss her dont you

Rashid: Alot

And that text made Essie's heart shutter. She felt so jealous and hurt. She decided to end the chat and replied saying she wanted to sleep and Rashid asked why. She dint know what to give as an excuse but still gave out one.

"I have school tommorrow and i have to get up early" texted Essie

"But tommorrow is Saturday and there is no school. Are you trying to end the chat? Did i offend you?" Asked Rashid

Essie: its not that. I thought i had school tommorrow

Rashid: Oh i get you now. Anyway i'll be opening my new butchery tommorrow. I would like you to be there

This time this text made Essie want to go on with the chat and she quickly agreed to go. They chatted for a while before Essie made a video call to Ann who helped her pick out a dress for the occasion. She wished the night would just end.

Around 8 in the morning, everyone was waiting for Essie to arrive before they would open the butchery officially.

"Rashid she is here!" Screamed princess happily

"Essie?" Asked Rashid turning to look if it was really her but it wasn't. It was Fatuma instead and princess ran to meet her happily. She jumped up and Fatuma caught her and swirled. She was in a long blue dress which fitted her so welland blue was Rashid's favourite. She also tied a veil around her hair and she looked stunning. Rashid was happy to see her though he was eagerly waiting for Essie. Just then a red Limousine arrived and all the people present there turned to see who it was. They first saw an expensive blue high heel shoe come out of the car followed by the other. The shoes looked like gladiators but in a different design which was just cool. Then followed a beautiful lady in knee length fitting blue dress which matched her expensive purse. She also wore blue goggles. Her natural hair was well blowed and was tied up in a pony tail. Little hair from the front was in a Rihanna side fall and well curved.

She turned out to be the awaited Esther. The dress fitted and drew her figure 8 so beautifully. She came out naturally without her makeup and she looked damn stunning. Rashid couldn't resist himself from checking her out from toe to head. Her hips formed out so well and her tiny waist made it all perfect. Essie got so shy getting all amazing glares from everyone except for Fatuma who gave her a death stare after seeing how Rashid looked at her.

"Miss Essie" said princess and ran towards her and miss Essie carried her up and pressed a soft kiss on her cheeks.

"How are you sweery. I brought chocolates for you" said Essie and opened the back door of her car and brought out a brown shopping bag in which she brought out the chocolates princess loved.

"Thank you Aunt Essie. Can i call you aunt Essie?" Asked princess

"Ofcourse you can" said Essie and just then Rashid came closer to where they were.

"Hi Essie" said Rashid and it pained Fatuma that he dint even look at her.

"Hi Rashid. Here i brought you something. I hope you like it. Congratulations" said Essie handing over the brown shopping bag to Rashid

"You dint have to but thanks. Lets go, everyone is waiting" said Rashid and they both walked to where the butchery was with princess in between them. Everyone was watching.

Fatuma overheard one of Rashid's friend say" They make a perfect family" and it shattered her hurt in pieces. She joined the rest as Rashid gave a small speech and cut a wrapper that was tied around the butchery. Everyone clapped as Rashid walked in and opened the new fish butchery in town.

"Congrats Rashid" said Fatuma who had reached his side before Essie did. She then hugged him and gave him a small box and asked Rashid to open it. It was a golden watch which was Rashid's favourite.

"Wow! Thanks Fatuma. Its beautiful" said Rashid smiling

"Wear it. Here let me help you" said Fatuma and made Rashid wear the watch as Essie and princess watched.

"I told you those two are close" said princess and ran towards them leaving Essie alone. Essie felt like she was not needed there and decided to go away but just then a man came crying.

"Somebody please help my daughter" said the old man crying.

"What happened to your daughter sir?" Asked Essie worried.

"She wants to drown herself and she has stabbed herself on the stomach. Please save her" said the man and sat down in tears.

"Where is she?" Asked Essie removing her high heels and threw them aside as the man took her to the beach side and saw the girl falling into the sea from a cliff and her white dress was full of blood. Essie couldn't swim in the dress she wore and hence she removed it so quickly and remained in her blue bra and a blue baika short. As she moved into the water, Rashid joined her shirtless and they both dived into the water. One could see that Essie was a professional swimmer in how fast she swam approaching the girl. Rashid was swimming towards his boat and he finally reached it. Essie was able to find the girl before she drowned further and rashid helped them in the boat. Rashid was moving towards the shore as Essie tried to wake the girl up by rubbing her feet. She could not press her stomach due to the wound. She had to gently press her chest and just then the girl woke up.

"Is there a chemist around?" Asked Essie

"Yes why?" Asked Rashid and they had reached the shore. Rashid carried the girl out of the boat and laid her down on a khanga piece that a woman lay for them.

"Get me a paper and a pen quickly" said Essie holding the girl's wound to make sure the bleeding does get too much. Princess quickly with a pen and notebook in which Essie wrote some medicines and asked Rashid to buy it from the chemist.

"There is money in my purse. Take it and buy the medicine" said Essie but Rashid used his money instead and quickly brought the drugs. Essie ran to her car in which she carried a firstaid box wherever she went and brought it. There was a syringe in it.

"Take the kids away and cover me" said Essie who was in the boat. She gave an injection to the girl who was unconcious but breathing. It was to make the girl not to feel any pain as she closed the stabbed part of her stomach. She cleaned the area with some liquid she bought.She then used a needle and thread to sew her stomach and she was putting on gloves from the firstaid kit. Some of the people couldn't watch what she was doing until she was done and injected some other medicine in her.

"Can i get a coconut and a thin tube pipe?" Asked Essie standing up

"Yes we have coconuts all over this island but the Thin tube..." said Rashid thinking.

"Can we use this one? I took it from a broken shisha lamp" said one man from the crowd.

"Its perfect. Get me the coconut" said Essie and Rashid quickly climbed a coconut tree with a knife and brought the coconut. Essie asked him to peel it and make a small hole in it. She then fixed the pipe in the coconut and fixed the other end with a syringe needle. She then injected it in the girl's hand and it reacted as a drip. She stood up and told the father of the girl to hold the coconut high.

"She is stable now. You can take her to the hospital" said Essie .

"May God bless you my child" said the old man in tears of joy.

"Its nothing sir but why did she try to commit such a terrible act?" Asked Essie

"Love is a very strange thing my child. You might love someone but you never know the person loves someone else. Her fiance cheated on her with her bestfriend. My child couldn't handle the pain and decided to end her life. Love is very strange. If you love someone just let them know and if they dont feel the same way its better to say it than pretend. Its very painful" said the old man in tears once again. Essie was so touched by this. She picked up her dress and left quickly for her car. She found her purse next to her shoes and as she picked them up, someone came and stood next to her. It was Rashid who ended up pulling Essie into a very tight hug not caring whether people were watching or not. Essie stood there blankly as Rashid hugged her. She still looked emotionless when Rashid pulled put of the hug.

"You just saved that girl's life and am happy. I dont know how to thank you but can i take you out this evening?" Asked Rashid but Essie was thinking of something else. Her whole body was frozen and burning in shock. Rashid had just hugged her shirtless and she was just in a bra and a baika short.

"What are you thinking?" Asked Rashid

"Nothing" she said blankly

"So are we going out? Not like a date but just a thank you outing" said Rashid

"Okay" said Essie and forced a smile.

"Take care" said Rashid and went back to his butchery where Fatuma and princess were standing. Fatuma was so hurt by what she saw infront of her. Essie couldn't stop looking at Rashid. His biceps fitted so well with his body and his sweaty body made him look really hot. She dint want to stop stealing glances but she wouldnt want to stand there in a bra and baika short. She got in her car, put on her dress and drove away as Rashid watched smiling. An ambulance drove in minutes later and took the girl to hospital. Rashid saw the brown bag with princess and took it from her wanting to see what Essie bought for him.

"Wow! She chose them how you like" said princess who was also looking at Essie's gift.
