Whispering Kingdom Suitor

683 Words
Tegan was feeling somewhat anxious about her date later. She had always enjoyed meeting any season fairy before. They usually had the most beautiful wings and were a polite group. However her dating experience lately left her feeling rather down. It was one jerk after another or worse someone who only cared to date her because of her status. Sometimes she wished she could just meet a random fairy who didn't know her royal title and see if they treated her differently for not knowing. They were scheduled to have a picnic in the woods near the palace in about an hour so she had better get ready. Using her powers she made herself a flower crown. Tegan took her fingers and made a few small braids in her hair. Her hair was not as dark as her mother's raven tresses but more of a deep brown. Her flower crown was woven with baby's breath and tiny white roses. Tegan choose a modest green dress made of lace that came down just above her ankles. Her wings were flittering with nerves for the date. She made her way from her room and out towards the castle wall. Her mother flagged her down before she got past the garden.  "Try to give this one a chance Tegan." Iridesa flitted over to her and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Have a good time dear." Tegan bowed her head to her mother and continued out towards the woods. Wild deer were leaping a playing within the trees. A chipmunk was shoving nuts into its pouch and scurried up a tree. In the middle of a clearing there was a blanket spread out and a picnic basket sitting next to it. It appeared as if her suitor was not quite here yet. No matter she would sit and watch the animals Suddenly she heard a rustle in the woods. A tall figure was emerging from the shadows. This must be her mystery date. When he stepped into the light she felt her breath catch in her chest. He was extremely handsome. His body was very muscular, his hair was a fiery auburn and fell to his shoulders. His wings seemed to be every color of every fall leaf all at once. He wore a brown tunic with a fur cloak, he walked over towards her and Tegan was very aware of how tall he was for a fairy. He gently took her hand and an electric jolt traveled from her fingertips straight up her arm. He brought her hand to her lips and kissed the back of her palm. She felt her heartbeat quicken. "Princess Tegan, I'm Dustin Southfall from the Whispering Leaves Kingdom. I'm very pleased to meet you" Tegan gave a small curtesy towards him. "You can call me Tegan." Dustin gestured towards their picnic that had been set up and they sat down on the blanket together. Any time he gently touched her Tegan felt the same electric sensation. Could he possibly be her mate or was she just horny? She wasn't of age to find out officially yet. Dustin was a perfect gentleman the whole date. Asking her questions and actually listening to her responses. She was the one having trouble not touching him, daydreaming about him kissing her. What in the heavens was wrong with her? Sure she had crushes before but nothing this extreme. Tegan felt like she was literally restraining herself from kissing him, touching him. He asked her a question and she had to shake the fog that seemed to be floating in her brain. "I'm sorry Dustin what were you saying? I seem to have gotten lost in my thoughts for a moment." "I was asking you if I could kiss you." Tegan felt her eyes widen at his request and just nodded her consent. He leaned forward and kissed her. Stars were exploding behind her closed eyes. Her entire body felt like it had just been hit with a giant electric jolt. When he pulled back he was staring at her like she was something he'd never seen before in his life.
