Chapter 1
"Daddy, I'm in so much pain..."
"Daddy, I want to go home. We don't do any more treatments, okay? Please stop spending money on me..."
In the ICU at Eldoria Hospital, Miley reached out with her little hand. She was in a breathing mask, her big eyes bright like sapphires.
Lukas Kaur's eyes were red. He felt like needles were piercing his heart.
"Miley, hang in there. I'll do anything to cure you. I'd even sell blood or organs if that's what it takes." Lukas grabbed her small hand, his voice trembling with emotion.
Miley weakly begged her dad not to sell blood, then drifted off into a fitful sleep.
"Mr. Kaur, do you still want your daughter's heart condition to be treated? You've already racked up three hundred thousand dollars in medical bills. If you don't pay today, we'll have to stop treatment." The nurse walked in, looking at Lukas sitting by the bedside coldly.
"Yes, treat her! Please don't stop her medicine. I beg you." Lukas clung to the nurse's arm, pleading desperately.
"Pay up first." The nurse icily brushed off Lukas's hand and turned away.
Lukas's gaze fell back on his daughter's face, tears uncontrollably streaming down his cheeks.
Three hundred thousand! Where could he possibly borrow that much money?
Over the years, because of his daughter's congenital heart disease, he and his wife, Eira Kaur, had depleted all their savings. Their once-close friends had also cut ties with them after his business failed!
Lukas sighed deeply. He was about to go downstairs to borrow money when he heard Eira's voice from the next ward. "Please, Mr. Sutton, lend me three hundred thousand to save my daughter. I'll pay you back in two months. I promise!"
"That isn't impossible, but you have to agree to two conditions. First, divorce Lukas, that loser. Second, sleep with me right now! I've been craving your body for a long time!"
"Mr. Sutton, you... please don't do this!"
"f**k!" Hearing Eira's terrified voice, Lukas burst angrily out of his ward and kicked open the door to the next room.
"Travis, f**k off!" Lukas yelled at Travis Sutton, who was forcing Eira into his embrace.
Travis was his college classmate who had always liked Eira. After Eira married Lukas, their relationship deteriorated completely.
Eira's clothes were disheveled, her face a mask of panic as she quickly struggled out of Travis's embrace.
"Oh, look who it is! You useless waste!" Travis turned to see Lukas, with a disdainful smile on his face. "You just a pizza delivery loser, asking Eira for money every day, huh? What can you give Eira to make her happy? Just divorce her already!"
After Travis finished speaking, he hugged Eira again without caring about Lukas's feelings.
"Asshole, I'll kill you!" Lukas couldn't bear seeing his wife violated in front of him. His eyes were red, and he clenched his fists, rushing towards Travis with all his might!
But Travis was robust and strong. Lukas was no match for him at all. Before his fist could touch Travis, Lukas was kicked to the ground. The intense pain in his abdomen made it almost impossible for Lukas to get up.
"Damn it! You think you can fight me, you useless trash?" Travis was furious, rushing at Lukas and pounding on him with punches and kicks. Lukas's mouth was bleeding heavily.
"Mr. Sutton, stop it, please stop! I apologize for Lukas; he shouldn't have hit you." Seeing this, Eira quickly pulled Travis away, but Travis viciously kicked Lukas a few more times before finally stopping.
Lukas wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and struggled to stand up. He stared hard at Eira. "Eira, why...?"
"Smack!" Eira slapped Lukas hard across the face. "I was just asking Mr. Sutton for money because we can't afford our daughter's treatment. They might kick us out of the hospital, you know? Apologize to Mr. Sutton this instant!" Eira yelled tearfully.
If it weren't for their daughter and her useless husband, she wouldn't have had to compromise herself to Travis.
"Me? Apologize to him?" Lukas couldn't believe his ears.
"Haha, just a useless guy. He's not worth making me angry." Travis waved his hand in a pretentious manner, then hugged Eira's shoulder. "Don't worry about Miley's illness. I'll take you to the bank now. But you only have a month. If you can't pay by then, you have to divorce this piece of s**t!"
"Mr. Sutton, I... I'll find a way to repay you!" Eira's eyes filled with disgust as she looked at Lukas. She had no other option but to be forced by Travis to go to the bank.
As they walked away, Lukas slumped to the ground, tears of hopelessness streaming down his face. 'My daughter is sick. I can't pay for her treatment. My wife is resorting to another man for money. What's the use of me being alive?'
Lukas wandered aimlessly to the rooftop of the hospital. Just as he was about to end it all, an unfamiliar phone call came in. He hesitated for a moment, then decided to answer.
On the other side of the line, an old man's voice came through. "Young master, have you made up your mind after all these years?"
"Dougie? Is that... Dougie?" Lukas's emotions were stirred upon at the familiar voice.
"Yes, young master! Your father is getting older. As long as you're willing to sign your name, the family's billions will all be yours!"
Lukas was actually from a super rich family, with family assets spread across the globe. But because of his mother's death, he had severed ties with his father and resolutely left the family.
The once scion of a wealthy family had since been reduced to an ordinary person.
Unexpectedly, today, the butler Dougie Dixon actually contacted him, asking him to inherit the family's billions!

Following Dougie's directions, Lukas rode his electric scooter to Summit Enterprises Tower. This was a skyscraper over three hundred meters tall, ranked seventh among the top 500 global enterprises!
Just as he entered the lobby, Lukas was stopped by a uniformed woman. She is Dolcie Gill. "We don't allow pizza delivery guys in here."
"I'm not a pizza delivery guy," Lukas explained.
"Don't feed me that line again. Everyone who comes in here says they're not pizza delivery guys. Do you think I was born yesterday?" Dolcie said.
"I really am not. I'm here to see Dougie." Lukas was getting annoyed and tried to walk past her.
"Damn! Are you stupid? Didn't you hear what I said?!" Dolcie Gill was very agitated. It was the first time she had seen such a shameless pizza delivery guy who not only refused to leave but also tried to force his way in.
At this moment, a department manager heard the commotion and walked out, his face dark. "What's going on?"
"Mr. Gray, this pizza delivery i***t forced his way into our company!" Dolcie pointed at Lukas with disgust. "I'm about to have security throw him out!"
Mr. Gray frowned and scrutinized Lukas, saying in a deep voice, "Our company doesn't allow pizza deliveries inside. Please leave."
Upon noticing Lukas's continued presence, Dolcie, eager to flaunt her bravado, advanced and gestured towards him, declaring, "You heard that? Leave this place!"
Lukas frowned, suppressing his anger. "I've told you, I'm not a pizza delivery guy. I'm here to see Dougie."
"Dougie?" Hearing this name, Mr. Gray looked Lukas up and down with disdain. "You're looking for our chairman?"
"Dougie is your chairman?" Lukas was taken aback. Dougie used to be his father's secretary. How did he become chairman?
Mr. Gray, the manager, was stunned, shook his head helplessly, and sneered. "You don't even know Mr. Dixon is our chairman, and you're actually looking for him? Do you have an appointment?"
"Mr. Gray, don't joke around. A loser like him can never secure an appointment, can he?" Dolcie scoffed.
"Enough, Dolcie. Call the security guard," Mr. Gray impatiently waved his hand.
"Yes, Mr. Gray," Dolcie coquettishly replied and walked to the front desk to pick up the phone.
Mr. Gray was about to leave.
Suddenly, a discordant voice rang out at the front desk. "Dougie, get down here now! I've been stopped by your receptionist. If I don't see you in three minutes, you can forget about being chairman!"
The two looked towards the voice and saw Lukas just hanging up the phone.
Dolcie's smirk deepened. "He's even acting now? Serves him right for delivering pizzas!"
With that, she secretly took a photo of Lukas and posted it on t****k with the caption: [Disgusting! Encountered a stupid pizza delivery guy at the company, claiming he'll have our chairman fired within three minutes. I'm calling security to throw him out...]
But at that moment, Dougie, Chairman of Summit Enterprises, rushed out of the elevator, looking panicked, and saw three security guards about to throw Lukas out!
That was the sole heir to the family business!
In an instant, Dougie shouted, "Stop!"
