Chapter 12 Rose : Victory

It is the morning of the Vicario Gala. Just a couple more hours and I will be home free. I know they say, don't celebrate your victory before you actually have it, but they don't know me! The lengths I will go through, to protect the ones I love and I love my father dearly. It will break his heart, if he must loose me, especially after Mother's death. I taste victory on the tip of my tongue as I marvel in the feeling of pure bliss.

I feel quite at ease and happy. I have told no one of my magical secret place, not even father or Grey. The only one that knows, is Lilly and she can't tell anyone. Then there is Phoenix but just as Lilly, he cannot tell a soul! I laugh out loud because little old me, has outfoxed the mighty Elite of Craig.

I think I will take my last dip in the pool, before I head back. I take my clothes off and swim a couple of laps enjoying the sun on my skin and the beautiful clear blue skies above. At my leisure and after a couple of hours just, bathing in the warm water, I get out and put my white dress shirt on. I start to wonder around and while waiting to get dry, I pick some flowers and make a little flower crown for myself, one of my favourite pass times next to painting and hunting! I look at my handy work and put the crown, with white and red flowers on top of my head as I head back to where Lilly is at.

I find Lilly grazing close by our camp. All of a sudden I notice Lilly getting restless, her nose flares in warning. I don't hear anything, but I'm sure she is trying to tell me something. Then I see it. The Black Menacing Beast of a wolf. I know I am screwed. My cross and bow is still in the cave. I was too relaxed, thinking victory is mine! "O darn! ", I scold myself. "Now I will become Wolfs meat." ! I wonder what is worse, being killed and eaten by this beast or being captured by the Elite soldiers.

I don't know what to do. " No sudden movements, I say to myself". No one knows I'm here. No one will come to my rescue. Father will not know what happened to me. As I am frozen in my spot, the beast of terror slowly prowls closer and im sure it is readying itself for an attack! My heart beats so fast, I'm sure I will drop dead at any minute from pure exhaustion of trying not to move a muscle. I'm pretty sure this is the same wolf that almost attacked Grey and I in town!

The odds of getting the same wolf twice, just my bad luck! I don't realise but I have been holding my breath and just as the wolf wants to attack, I faint and loose consciousness.

I think I might have been out for a minute or two,however when I open my eyes I know it must be for longer as I find myself in a room, still dressed in my white dress shirt. For a moment I forgot everything, me running away, the wolf ready to devour me, the Elite trying to catch me. My reality comes crashing in on me as I notice an Elite red uniform hanging in front of a cupboard.

I don't know what happened to the wolf but I've been caught and captured by the Elite, the red uniform hanging a few feet from me is telling it all.I don't know if I should feel relieved that, I was captured by the Elite before I got to be wolfs food. That darn beast of a wolf ruined my plans! I get up, but I feel dizzy. I wonder what they did to me, my head feels thick. I stumble out of the bed and walk to the window that i see is open.

As I look out, I stumble back. I am so high up there is no chance of escape through that window. I don't know how i didn't notice the door! I made my way across the room to the door.

I slowly turn the handle and hold my breath, praying that it will open and it does! It opens! I am wide awake now , ready to escape and make my way to my village. I quietly and carefully tread through the long hallway searching for any means of escape, any means to get to the ground. I've never been in a high rise building. I'm out of my element and only instinct drives me towards a way out, a way to freedom, to father, to Grey.
