Chapter 11 : Zackreigh

720 Words
When Titanium sent me his report on the girl with the green ribbon, I was amused that she would evade my best general in arms. When he informed me about the shed and the paintings, my amusement turned into anxiousness and trepidation. These are feelings that feels alien to me. Did he get her? Did Matthews get to her before me? She is mine and mine alone. He will never have her. First thing, I have to find out where is Matthews. I have the upper hand now. The knowledge, that he already met her. That I met her, is no longer Matthews knowledge alone. If not for the paintings, Matthews would have won, again. Thanks to my girl with the green ribbon, I have the upper hand and now can make my plans, carefully and meticulously. The stakes are high and I cannot, will not, be defeated by my brother, not again. He has taken everything from me. He wil not have her, not over my dead body. I call in my personal advisors to clue me up on the rules of the Vicario. I'm sure, if Matthews will make a move, it will be at the Vicario Gala. After slaying all night with my advisors and the inner circle, my closest friends Isis, the maiden of death, Darius the brute and Lysander my political advisor, I feel more at ease. The plan is tight clad, to secure the green ribbon girl. I go to my chambers to freshen up before we depart for Kader. My mind wander to Matthews and I cannot help but wonder how he met her. Matthews, my twin brother, whom I loved and adored who betrayed me in the most cruelest of ways after mother's death. It is from this betrayal, that I have learned to do anything necessary to succeed with no regard for consequence, my only measure is that of success. My body hums with anticipation of the mission ahead as I make my way to the portal that will take Isis, Darius, Lysander and I to Kader. It is still dark when we get there and met by Titanium. He reports that green ribbon's name is Rosaly, but everyone calls her Rose. I enter the small cabin, which is empty and roam around until I end up in Rose's room. I take a deep breath and I smell her, that divine and utterly intoxicating smell that freeze my senses. I blink out of my stupor and move to the shed where I was told the paintings are. The paintings are now covered except for the one where a girls hand is stroking a big black massive wolf. The serene scene depicted in the painting sends chills down my spine. The painting is too intimate for my eyes, too needy , just too much. I cover it up, and give my men instructions to take all three paintings to our realm immediately. I notice a birds cage and and see his feather. The bright orange feather. So he spent time with Rose. He could watch her, study her, get to know her. I walk out of the shed without a further glance and ask my men to destroy it. I don't want any traces of him close to her. I want to destroy any memory he might hold dear of her. Titanium and I, trace his tracks to the spot where he lost Rose's sent. We search around, but he is right, it's as if she vanished into thin air. It could only mean two things, firstly Matthews got to her before me or secondly this human girl, we might have underestimated her abilities to evade us and the Elite Craig. If Matthews took her, Titanium should have been able to smell the lingering smell of magic, but Titanium assures me, that he was hot on Rose's heels and there was no smell of magic when he lost her sent. I order Titanium to head back to Lysander and assist him with all the preparations of the Vicario. Just before Titanium leaves, he receives a report from his men, that Matthews's men are snooping around Rose's home. I might just be in luck! Matthews doesn't have her! I feel excitement stir in me. I need to go hunt and my prey is, Rose.
