Chapter 10 Titanium : Tracking

I was quite surprised when Zackreigh asked me, his second in command to take the lead in this operation. It only means one thing.This operation means a lot more to Zackreigh as I first thought. Only a few things mean a lot to my King, loyalty, his close friends and then the safety of the Underworld.

I was given a thick velvet green ribbon by Zackreigh with the clear command to find its owner and make sure that the owner takes part in the Vicario Gala. Instructed to bid as high as needed with no bidding limit. Once successful, the Vickry is to be zapped immediately by me, and only me and without delay to my Kings chambers. I was told by Zackreigh to take personal responsibility for the success of this operation.

It has been light years since my King requested me to take personal responsibility of a mission, hence I know how important it is to succeed. I have taken every necessary precautions and steps to ensure that the operation to extract, Green Ribbon Vickry, goes smoothly and without problems.

My best warriors are charged with accompanying me. I have not told them the mission. The only thing they know is that we are here for the Vicario Gala. I don't want any leaks.Most importantly I don't want Matthews to find out that Zackreigh is interested in someone. I know that Matthews will move heaven and earth to remove any one and any possession that Zackreigh takes a liking to.

This is what the twin brothers do. The hatred they have for each other is deep rooted and stem from their mother, Queen Catherine's death. The boys were 10 when their mother was murdered in front of their eyes. They blame themselves that they did nothing to protect her and their Father, blames them for firstly taking their mother from the castle and doing nothing while their mother was attacked in front of them.

I am in the town square of Kader with Magnus, his Elite soldiers, my men and my blood demons. We moved very early, first light is yet still to come. I take the green ribbon and let my blood demons smell it. I give them the command to find. In no time they have the trail of the owner of the ribbon. We are led to one of the houses at the outer skirts of Kader. We march into a small cottage without knocking and found the old man still in bed.

The second room is empty and as I investigate further, I notice that it belongs to a girl. Most probably the green ribbon girl. I let my blood hounds smell the room and give them another command to lead me to the girl. The hounds lead me to a river. After a days track we find the trail way down stream and all of a sudden it just vanish. I circle back , but no matter what we do, the hounds does not pick up the scent. I have been searching for the girl for 2 days straight without any rest but cannot pick up her scent.

Tomorrow is the Vacario Gala, I am running out of time and I think it's time for me to let Zackreigh know that I am unable to track the girl.

I hate the fact that I, Titanium, second in command of the Underworld cannot track a human girl! Maybe I missed something at the girls house, a lead of some sorts. My men has been questioning her Father but to no avail. I search her room but comes up empty handed.

One of my men alert me to the shed, behind the house. I go there in haste. My time is running out and I'm starting to get anxious. What I find in the shed set the alarm bells off in my head. Neatly in a row are 4 paintings. One of a wolf leaning into someone's touch as it's being stroked. The other of some sort of necklace and a girl. The last one is what has me on high alert. The painting of a Phoenix.

Without delay I contact Zackreigh through our bond. I give him a full report. He tells me to stay put. He will meet me on the morrow at the girls cottage.

To say I'm quite surprised that he took the news so calmly is an understatement. Almost as if he already knew that I would not be able to find the girl. He did not say a word when I mentioned the Phoenix painting. I have no idea what all this means and cannot help but wonder what tomorrow will bring.
