Chapter 1 It was eleven o’clock in the evening in a dim lighted room, wherein the presence of noise is not in, Jessie, with her study lamp on, is still up studying her subject for the next morning. She’s trying to concentrate on what she does but every time she remembers what had happened that earlier, she couldn’t help but stop and grin for shame. If she could have been more careful in not leaving her book inside the class, they would not have seen Eds’s picture flipped on her book. Now almost half of the class knows that she likes him, and she is sure that in just two days it would be known for everybody in the campus. She’s out of the focus and she wanted to be eaten whole by the shame that would make her disappear in just a blink. Go to wherever that no one knows her. If she could just have magic she would wanted to bring back time or just to erase everything in everybody’s memory she would… Jessie was running back to the room, she went to the door panting. But she was freezed looking at ted in the chair where she left her book.“Jessie Marie Munos” He reads aloud the name written on the book while holding the Ed’s picture found in it. Then he reads what is written at the back of the picture “I love you… the man of my dreams!” it was followed with a loud noise of teasing and laughters. Ed was sitting comfortably. He was not looking proud or pissed; he just smiled with his friends. It was nothing to him, he was used to it. “oh here she is… hi Jessie” and all of the attention went on her. She still freezes…, and she wakes up. “Oh… its haunting me even in my dreams!” At 19, Jessie had already had a full detailed figure. Her hair is dark brown that falls naturally into her back. She had a very beautiful skin and a beautiful face. But her fashion had ruined everything. She would just always tie her hair up and wear lousy shirt and baggy jeans. She hates wearing fitted dress, the last time she did was when lily, her best friend, had invited her at their house at a party when had successfully convinced her to wear that dress. The last time she could remember is when lily’s brother had a fight with one of the drunk guest who wanted to take her home forcibly. She hated it . She would just think she is better just on the things that make her comfortable. She is a girl who lacks of self confidence. That morning she was hurried to go to school minding more of her quizzes she must take. At least, that motivates her to still go to school despite of all the shame that had happened. “Ok, Jessie… everybody don’t mind it, can you stop ovethinkiing!” She told herself Walking in the alley she found everybody looking at her, some looks were just a look of intrigue, some are teasing and some are mocking. “URGH! No they did mind that much!” She hated herself more because of it. At her first class “ she sits at the very corner not to be seen by everybody. She acted invisible not even reciting to avoid the attention. She is afraid that everyone’s attention will be drawn to her. She did it for the rest of the class, and it was effective. “Jessie…” a teasing voice called from the back “how are you darling!” A teasing voice went from her back. “Lily, stop that!” her voice raised a little seing her friend “So are you feeling relieved now?” still with the teasing smile, Lily sits on a vacant chair next to her. “Relived about what?” she asked her with an angry look for her to stop. “Relived because for a long time then… you have finally confessed your feelings to dear handsome Ed!” she says it in a singing tone giving her a tantalizing eyes holding both cheeks and squeezes her. “NO! I did not confess… You know it was an accident” She gave her a frown look. “It was just the same! At least the agony of keeping it would make you feel better!” “No not! That really made me sick!” She look really upset “ What would be their reaction?, His reaction?! I hate it! I extremely hate it, I wish to disappear!” The teasing looked changed to being worried. “So what is the plan? “What plan?’ She was irritated. “Your next move” her eyes widen waiting for her answer. “What are you talking about?” that question made her more irritated. “ I mean Ed… Would you want to talk to him?” “No I would not do that!” “So what if will crossed by him?” “We’ll pretend as if nothing happens?!” “You know he is not so stupid” With a sigh she raised her hands showing of submission. “Ok, I would like to… “. Lily smiles widen with excitement. “I will tell him that it was just a mistake... the picture was not mine, and I did not keep it was an accident it went to me... I don’t know where it came from… maybe, someone intentionally put it there! ” she is looking so desperate “So you would tell a lie?” Lily gave her a disappointed look.“What if you would just admit it? So what? he’s really cute! Everybody would understand you, we might not know, what if he’ll confess that he likes you too!” “That is impossible!” “Let us see… ’’ Lily gave her a teasing look. “you are pretty, and have a good skin, you just have to get in to new fashion and get some little makeover” She gives her a sigh “Can we go to the canteen, and get something to drink” “Okay, I’m as well thirsty” At the hallway, they stopped by a girl blocking their way. She is pretty and dressed fashionably. The other two girls at her back are as well looking the same as her. “So it’s you” a girl with a mocking look stare at her. It is Samantha, Ed’s ex –girlfriend. “You know what Jessie, I was so amazed with your guts!” “What’s wrong with you, huh?” Lily covered her with a defending angry look. “Lily stop it, let her go” “I just want to say good luck!” She smiled and come near her to whisper” If he’s going to even give you a stare” She then laughed “Come on girls!” The girls passed her with a mocking look. “Why is everybody thinking… that I intentionally did it?” She looks so irritated “I think I need to talk to Ed if I need to lie about it and make up stories? I would do it just to stop this!” “But you don’t need to make up some stories!” Walking in the hall way they saw Ed with his friends walking. ”Oh my God , he is coming.. he is coming…” lily’s reaction made her more scared. “Lily pushed her and she almost at bumped him” He stared at her blankly just as if he what happened did happen. She cleared her throat,” Ed, I just want to clear that what you have seen is not— “No it’s not a big deal don’t mind it!” he walked and passed her leaving her blankly. Some of the other guys following next to him also gave her a smile. Ted tapped her at the back, “I’m sorry Jessie, I should have not read it allowed in the class” with a teasing smile. “we’ll you heard him, its not a big deal” he went near to whisper. “He is used to it” and walked away. She had a mixed feeling; yes she must be happy because that’s what she wanted to happen, to make him believe that it was just nothing. But what he said made her so upset, it was actually fine with him, he’s not angry nor disgusted with her… but he just simply doesn’t care about it! Her feet felt nimble and her hands were cold but she is sweating…it felt worse that he did not even care about it though. She walked out from the school hall way. And her Lily followed her. “Hey Jessica are you okay?” “Of course, I’m just fine… that’s what I wanted… for him not to mind it” she tried to fake a smile.” You heard him right? So I don’t need to make alibis, it’s not a big deal same as I thought it is… “But…-- “Stop that, lily I hate that pity looks!Let us just mind about our report next week?” “oh yeah.. I need to do some more research on that” Lily was then occupied by it. “Yes do that, See you, bye!” She tried to give her a beautiful smile before leaving. At home… Hi honey how was school? ‘Fine mom” “Good, go and change ‘coz dinner will be served..” and she hugged her “Thanks mom” She wanted to cry. “Hmm... is there something wrong?” “No nothing, I am just so thankful you are here, and I am so lucky to have you, If I could have another life I would still wish that you will still be my mom” “Oh... I was touched, is that an advance gift for my birthday?” She laughed “Yes… yes mom”… she kissed her before walking upstairs. She is in bed preparing to sleep and still cannot get over to what had happen, it worse than what she had expected. She looked at the stars at the window. Staring blankly… “I wish, I could swap place with you…”
