Chapter 2

My whole body felt like I had suddenly walked into a magical frozen land, and had unknowingly walked into a spell which I wasn’t supposed to going anywhere near, which resulted in my whole body, including my mind, freezing up for a few seconds. I gasped out a slow breath, feeling like a drum of ice got dumped over my whole body while I was trying to fall asleep, and that the ice was freezing off my whole body systems before I could even think of doing a thing. I shook my hard at first, blinking once to confirm it what I was seeing was indeed happening in real life, or if it was all a dream… because I’ve had countless amount of dreams where I had met my mate, but none of them had come close to all what I had felt with my whole body, heart and soul, minutes ago. I took a step back and turned around, running my fingers through my head and glancing up at the sky, using that moment to confirm once again, if all this was indeed happening in reality. I turned back around to lock eyes with my new mate whom I had been searching for, for over eight years. She took a step back away from me and wrinkled her nose a bit, making my eyes narrow at her almost immediately. So, this was it? After everything… after searching and searching, after consulting over fifty witches and wizards, after making countless sacrifices and offerings to the moon goddess, after hoping and hoping… this was it? An omega? I got an omega for a mate? The thought alone left a bitter, disgusted taste in my mouth– a taste which replaced that fruity taste which the wind had brought to me, right before I came face to face with her, only to get hit in the face with the scent of an omega tangling in the scent of my supposed Luna. I took a step forward and watched as she took a step backwards, eyeing with a look that didn’t seem to look pleasant one bit. I glanced down at her whole body, taking in her built and whole appearance. She was a petite little thing which I had no doubt wouldn’t make it past the middle of my chest if we were to d beside each other. A little bit of curve flared out on the sides of her hips to taper into a slim waist, a small bust and a face that reminded me so much of a fiery cat’s due to the fact that she was currently scowling at me, her blue eyes narrowing at me as soon as she noticed my eyes trialing over her body. This… was supposed to be my Luna? This right here was supposed to rule ten packs of Alphas and Betas along with me? The moon goddess had got to be playing a dark joke at this moment, because what the hell is this that was playing out before me? First of all, Omegas and Alphas do not ever get mated together ever to begin with, since the existence of werewolves, centuries ago… so at this point, a lot of things were not connecting together. I took another step forward and another and another until I was standing very close to her, taking a few seconds to wrinkle my nose a little as the scent of Omega made its way into my nose right before I leaned down a little to her height to bark out directly into her face. “How the f**k are you my mate? What the hell?!” I growled into her face and grabbed her by her elbow immediately when she was about to take another step backwards. I shook her hard a couple of times with a firm grip on her right elbow as if expecting her to magically have an answer to his questions, but she remained silent and was only trying to pull her elbow out of my grip, obviously not even trying to fish out an answer to my question. “Let go of me you jerk!” She screamed back at me immediately— a reaction I most definitely didn’t expect from her. I got shocked into a stunned silence which only lasted for a few seconds— in which she used to wrench her arm out of my tight grip and finally took a huge step away from me, and focused a pair of angry, cat-shaped, blue eyes on me, surprising me even more. I closed the distance between us, feeling my whole skin start to tighten up with different emotions all at once, anger leading the bunch of emotions. Angry at myself for having the audacity to even still have some hopes in my head that I might still one day come across my mate, only to get this omega for a mate. I was angry, so angry at the moon goddess, for pulling this kind of thing on me, after watching me suffer in loneliness, bitterness and desperation for over seven years without doing a thing to help me out, only to end up doing this to me at the end of everything. If this isn’t the worst betrayal that has ever happened to me, and the moon goddess had been the one behind this big betrayal. “I don’t want you for a mate. Whatever it is that the moon goddess is currently playing at, has got to be a very annoying joke, because what the actual f**k?” I hissed out through gritted teeth which were currently grinding hard against each other, bristling anger brewing in the depths of my eyes and radiating off his whole body in waves. “Well guess what? I don’t want you for a mate either! I’d rather stay mate less!” My supposedly new mate snapped back after a few seconds right before she took a step away from me when a low growl had started to vibrate in the lowest part of my throat. “You’re an Omega and you’re of no use to me nor my packs, you sure as hell can’t be able to rule beside me, that’s most certain.” I started to say, my mouth thinning into a small line in distaste right before I continued. “Only a female alpha can be able to take the spot beside me as my mate, and not you Omega.” I spit out the last word with so much venom and distaste, the omega’s eyes snapped upwards to lock with mine in the next second. “The rumors are more than true, you really are a jerk and a piece of shit.” The omega spat out while taking a couple of steps backwards as the words left her lips. My eyes narrowed at her even more and she was speaking again even before I could think of what to say in reply to her. “Also, I really do not want to be your mate as well, but I’d never question the ways of the Mormon goddess, I’m not as dumb as you are.” Red molten anger boiled in my blood immediately the words were past her lips and I started to close in on her, with what I was going to do to her, not thought out yet– only I only cared about in that very moment, was for her to take back her words back, and to show me some respect at least. Yes, I wasn’t taking her for a mate… but I was still her alpha nevertheless, and deserve her respect, no matter what. I reached for her but she whirled around on her toes and ran down the part leading back to the gathering where lots of alphas and betas were currently still partying in. The first thing my mind registered as I watched her run, was that she was literally going into the lion’s den and offering herself to a lot of perverts on a platter, seeing as omegas are normally no match for the strength of alphas, coupled with her tiny built – which mean one or more of the drunk unmated alphas and betas partying their heads off, might sight her and decide to think of taking advantage of her. And that thought left a really bitter taste in my mouth, and before I knew what was happening, I was racing in the direction she had run off to without even thinking things through for a few seconds more at least. “Troy?” I heard the familiar voice of my beta call out to me but I couldn’t find it in me to pause and check out the reason as to why he was calling my name, all that was echoing around in my head, was to save the dumb little omega. I felt him nudge at my mind link but ignored it and instead stopped in my tracks to glance around carefully, trying to see if I’d see the particular place where the omega had run off to. “Troy!” I heard Stan’s voice call out loudly to me once again and I turned around to glare angrily at him, only to see him running forward for a few more seconds before he finally stopped a few feet away from me. “What happened man? Where have you been? I thought you only went to calm your wolf down…” Stan started to ask me a bunch of question at the same time while panting a little due to the pace he had to run at, while chasing me– and the scowl on my face unconsciously got deepened, which was when he slowly trailed off and took a slow step towards me, his eyes moving over my whole body sharply, undoubtedly picking out the difference in me from this very moment, compared to when he had seen me last, when I had almost lost it in the midst of one part of the gathering. “Troy…” He started to say, an awed look replacing the confused expression that had been plastered on his face when I had finally turned around to stare at him, moments ago. I puffed out a slow breath, feeling how fast my heart was beating against the front of my chest and the upper sides of my ribs, like it had been doing ever since the second after the omega had run off and I had started to chase after her– for her own good, that is. Dumb, dumb omega. “Did you…” Stan started to say, an excited look crossing his face and I started to shake my head immediately, lifting my right hand up to run my fingers through the dark curls. “Don’t say it.” I warned him when the tiny excited look on his face widened even more just as he closed the space between us until he was leaning into me. “You did find your– '' He started to say once again but I shot him a sharp look which made him pause immediately. “Don’t talk about it, just leave it be.” “But you did find your mate, how the hell am I supposed to keep quiet about that?” Stan demanded in the next second, an excited smile spreading out on his face. I let out a small sigh and tugged on the roots of my hair, glancing away from Stan to stare at the watch clinging to my left wrist… I was going to be leaving this place in a few minutes. “How are you even this calm about it, man? How aren’t you bursting with energy? With how long you searched and waite–” Stan started to say again and I lifted my hand up and jerked him forward with a grip on the front of his shirt, cutting off the last of his sentence. “She is an Omega, Stan.” I watched as the color slowly drained out of his face before I loosened my grip on his shirt. I turned away from him, squeezing my eyes shut and dragging in a deep breath into my empty lungs. “But– you can’t get mated with an omega…” He started to say after a moment and barked out a laugh which didn’t sound amused to my own ears. Don’t I know that? “I am leaving right now, I’ll see you in the pack house later in the morning.” I said to Stan without turning around and slid my fingers over my face slowly, feeling a certain spot in my chest start to ache. “Let me come with you.” Stan offered immediately, worried about bleeding into his words and I shook my head at him without turning around. “You stay here and see that nothing unnecessarily stupid happens, you’re officially the head here.” “Will you be fine?” He asked after a few seconds, not bothering to argue with my plans because he knew it would be of no use. “I will be, going for a run feels like it would do a lot right now.” I said to him as I started to walk towards the entrance of the large gathering without still turning around to stare at Stan. I felt him nudge my mint link and I opened the link immediately, letting his wolf flood there, offering my mind a little bit of much needed warmth. ‘Be safe’ Stan channeled the two words into my mind after a little while and I rubbed against his mind without sending back a reply, signaling to him that I had indeed received his message just as I morphed into my beast form, my clothes tearing into shreds instantly as I gave into my animalistic instincts and gave myself off to the wind. The blue eyes of a certain omega whom I had no idea of what she went by, still managed to lodge itself in the head of my wolf.
