“I thought you don’t want to have a child?” Fodel asked.
“And you never wanted a successor to your bloodline.” Taran continued and leaned on the couch to relax his back.
Linfred sighed. “Of course, just so I’d have a woman to enjoy the night with.”
“WHAT?!” the two of them exclaimed in unison. They hot up from their seats. Their eyes almost popped out from their face and their jaws fell down.
“Since when did you enjoy those things, Linfred?” Taran couldn’t still believe it.
“My God… I couldn’t believe you’re matured enough now, Linfred.” Fodel said with teary eyes, like a father proud to his son.
Linfred didn’t bothered answering to them anymore and just returned his gaze back to the document he was reading earlier.
“Is that really your reason Linfred?” Taran went closer to Linfred’s desk. Fodel followed him as well.
“You should have said to us really, if that’s what you want Linfred. And so, we can gather ladies for you to pi…. Ack!”
Taran smacked Fodel’s head hard. “You too! You’re supposedly a man with a wife now. How can you still think of that idea?”
“What’s wrong with my idea?” Fodel protested, as he caressed the back of his head.
“How about I tell Sandra about this? So, she’d know that there’s that kind of poison running through your mind.” Taran replied.
“Wait, don’t do that! I will really burn your house if Sandra leaves me behind because of that!” Fodel roared.
“You didn’t really learn anything from that stupidness you brought 10 years ago. You were the reason how that snake entered in the palace.” Taran crossed his arms.
“Why are you blaming me alone in that incident? We all agreed about that! And who would have thought that the lady was a snake after all.” Fodel snorted.
“If you’d just bicker with each other, you can now leave from my office.” Linfred said.
“Oh yes, why did we bicker in the first place? If you’d just answer us properly then it won’t be noisy at all.” Taran protested.
Linfred shot Taran with a piercing gaze. Taran realized it and forced an awkward smile to the emperor.
“Who’s the emperor here?” Linfred asked.
“Uhh… You?” Taran replied.
“And then who do you think should adjust here?” Linfred asked again, still eyes locked to Taran.
“Uh… still you?”
Linfred rolled his eyes on Taran.
“Oh… I mean, it’s us…” Taran forced an awkward laugh.
“That’s what you get, asking too much!” Fodel scoffed.
“Shut up, Fodel!” Taran covered his mouth. “So, what’s really the reason Linfred?”
Fodel removed Taran’s hands off him. “You’re really persistent, aren’t you?”
Linfred could only sigh. “Where did you both get that ridiculous idea anyway? The real reason why I offered her to be my Empress because on what I see, she has what it takes to be the Empress of the country. A day might come where something happens to me, I know I won’t be worried because I can pass on the power to someone capable and fitting for it.”
Fodel and Taran made a now-I-know noise.
“Now that you have a child, what are you planning from now on?” Fodel asked.
“So, it turned out you’d ask the emperor as well.” Taran teased him.
“Shut up, Taran!” Fodel hissed. “What are you planning for your daughter? I really thought you would kill her. We knew that you dislike children.”
Linfred leaned on his chair and looked up on the ceiling.
“Who knows…”
“What?” Both of them wondered.
“Ah! Don’t tell me…” Fodel gasped. “Were you planning to make your daughter as the successor of the throne?”
Taran was surprised to Fodel’s question.
“Not a bad idea you have there, Fodel.” Linfred grinned.
“No way!” Taran exclaimed.
“Why would that be? Are there any problems if I decided to make her the successor of the throne? She’s my daughter after all.” Linfred asked.
“But her situation is…” Taran’s voice muffled, he couldn’t continue what he’s about to say.
“Let’s just stop talking about this. It’s still too early for us to talk about these matters. Linfred’s still young and strong. This isn’t a matter we should discuss at this point.” Fodel said.
The other two didn’t complain upon hearing what Fodel said. Linfred went back on reading the documents he had in his desk. And the other two just sat back on the couch.
5 Months Later…
Time flew swiftly and five months have already passed. Linfred’s schedule became hectic for a few weeks. Outside the palace, there were talks about the princess that were spreading like wildfire. Rumors about Tyesha as Linfred’s child went on from every ears of the citizens in the country, even though the palace and Linfred didn’t introduced her yet to the public.
“Have you heard about the talks and gossips outside the palace?” Taran asked.
Linfred locked his eyes on the target a few meters in front of him. He extended his arm forward and pulled the bow string with an arrow on it. The wind blew that swayed their clothes and hair. After a second, Linfred let go of the string and the arrow pierced through the empty space, finally embedding its head to the target.
“Another bullseye, Your Majesty!” the man who was on the watch to the target circle announced.
“What kind of talks would that be again, Taran?” Linfred asked.
“It’s about the Princess. From what I heard on the talks, they said you just brought her out of your mercy to her situation. And they were wondering why did you brought her in the palace.” Taran replied.
“They said, the Princess is useless as well because of her condition.” Fodel continued.
Linfred’s face darkened upon hearing that from them. His aura switched to kill-mode. He was ticked off hearing that remarks towards her daughter.
“Who are those animals, who said such a thing to the Princess? So, I can demonstrate to them who’s useless in this society.” Linfred roared.
“Daddy!”
All of them froze upon hearing the children’s call.
The twins called Fodel, as they ran to hug him.
“Greetings, Your Majesty.” Tyesha greeted her father.
“Until when will you keep calling me that way?” Linfred snorted.
“Pardon?” Tyesha tilted her head a bit, confused on her father’s question.
