3rd POV
"Call the wet nurse and the doctor! My wife's water broke!!" A harsh male voice was heard through the village making people instantly snap to work.
Giving birth was a big deal and a known harsh battle for women, having two children is already considered fortunate, but more than that is considered a blessing.
The village consisted of many different people mostly refugees and the Wolves who already occupied the territory. In the early morning with the sun just grazing the roofs of the trees, a woman went into labor.
Delilah, with the help of her husband Neil, made it back to the bed from the kitchen where she had started on breakfast for the family of four. Their oldest a boy and their other a girl, they were in their second and first year of life and now they'd have another babe.
"Merci my love," a soft feminine voice spoke.
"No need for thanks love, I'll be outside with the children," he gave her a kiss on the forehead as both the wet nurse and doctor from his wife's home country came in.
"Tu as de la chance!" The old doctor exclaimed hurriedly setting up.
"Oui, je suis monsieur," she responded back in kind knowing how much her family owed the doctor for helping in her deliveries.
The process took 8 hours with a flurry of older women carrying fresh water in the room and taking the bloody water out in frantic paces. It was touch and go for both mother and baby, making Neil nervous but he didn't show it on his face and took care of his two children in their mother's absence. Finally the sound of relief passed over the room followed by a few whimpers, but the baby didn't cry. When the father was finally allowed in the babe was wrapped up in a blanket while laying in the bassinet not far from the bed.
Neil went to his wife first seeing as she looked very weak and kissed her forehead gently. Once she gave him a reassuring squeeze, he took the few steps to look at baby, which he could now see was another girl.
Delilah noticed her son holding his younger sister's hand by the door peaking in, and motioned him to come over. Both children sat on the bed close to their mother and Neil put the babe gently in his wife's arms.
"This is your new baby sister, Chlôe," she told them gently while they stared at the baby in awe.
"I big boter (brother) gan (again)" the boy said to Delilah making her smile and nod.
"Yes Gavin you're a big brother again and Sofia is a big sister," Neil told him making Sofia look at the baby in awe. "Come let's let your mother rest."
He ushered the children out for dinner and bed after putting the sleeping babe back in her bassinet. Delilah smiled at her family and gave in to the exhaustion.

Chlôe was a happy and thoughtful baby. She didn't cry only got fussy, she smiled at everyone who gave her attention, and loved to cuddle with her siblings.
She took her first steps at 6 months.
Her first word was Pretty. She loved her mother's pointed ears that she hid everywhere outside of their home, but let free inside. She inherited the ears just less noticeable since she was still growing.
Her favorite person was her brother, but she didn't exclude her sister. Gavin was a free spirit, but he was tough. Sofia was fierce and strict, but she knew how to have fun. Chlôe was shy, soft spoken, and kind, but she knew right from wrong and wasn't afraid to stand up for anyone.
Their father taught them about their roots in Italy and their mother taught them about their roots in France. They knew their mother's parents had passed on, while their father's mother was gone, his father was still alive and would come to stay with them when Gavin turned 8.
Gavin and Sofia showed signs of them containing their father's wolf gene, while Chlôe exhibited signs of magic.
They had a tutor who began teaching them at the age of 5 on both parents insistance.
Delilah often took Chlôe into the woods to get a feel for what type of Elf would she be.
All of their children were never seen fighting and their manners were always shown.
By the time Chlôe was 10 years old, Delilah could tell that she was more of a Nyphm with both Elvish and Fairy powers.
The children all had their own friends in the village, but never excluded each other unless necessary, like Gavin's first hunting trip with Helm, their grandfather and Neil, their father, along with the other men in the village. Or like for the full moon when Helm, Neil, and Gavin shifted into their Beast forms (when Sofia turned 13 she too would join them).
One specific family Chloë was close with, were the Mikealson family. They were the largest family in the village having 7 children, though one was lost in the plague, so they say (Delilah and Neil still remember what actually happened). Gavin was the same age as Kol, Sofia the same age as Rebekah, and Chlôe being a year older than Henrik (yes I aged him up to 15 almost 16 when he died).
They were the closest pairs, but Chlôe got on well with all of them, even Finn. Finn was her silent protector, Elijah would read with her, Niklaus would sneak away and paint with her, Kol would teach her new tricks and play pranks on her brother together, Rebekah would teach her how to make flower crowns and talk about boys whenever Sofia was there, and Henrik was her absolute best friend they did everything they could together. Mikeal didn't mind having her around as long as she didn't distract them from their chores, though he wasn't fond of the Wolves anyway. And Esther was tolerant of her, she could feel how much power she had and it only kept growing as she got older, she wanted it but knew better than to try to get it.
Those were the simple days, the good days.
