The next morning, Nova and Lily wasted no time in heading to the apartment owner's office. With hopeful hearts and eager anticipation, they discussed the possibility of renting the vacant apartment next to Lily's. To their delight, the owner was more than willing to accommodate them, and after a brief negotiation, the papers were signed, and the necessary payment was made. Nova couldn't contain her excitement as she envisioned her future home taking shape. With the apartment secured, they made their way to the office, ready to tackle the day ahead. As they settled into their respective workstations, Nova turned to Lily with a determined look. "I'm going to talk to Mr. Daniel about getting the day off so we can go shopping for the apartment," Nova declared, her voice filled with determination. Lily's eyes lit up with excitement at the prospect of a day spent shopping for their new home. "That sounds perfect! And while you're at it, see if you can get me the day off too," she added eagerly. Nova nodded in agreement. "Of course, I'll talk to him about your leave as well," she promised. With their plans set in motion, Nova and Lily dove into their work, counting down the minutes until they could approach Mr. Daniel about their much-anticipated day off. As they worked diligently, their minds were already buzzing with ideas for furnishing and decorating their new apartment, eager to turn it into a cosy and inviting space they could call home. Nova entered Daniel's office with a polite knock, announcing her presence before stepping inside. "Good morning, Mr. Daniel," she greeted him with a warm smile. Daniel looked up from his work, returning her smile with equal warmth. "Good morning, Nova. Please, have a seat," he said, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk. "How are you today?" "Thank you, Mr. Daniel, I'm fine," Nova replied, taking a seat as instructed. However, she noticed a subtle change in Daniel's expression at her formal address. Daniel raised an eyebrow at her use of "Mr. Daniel," prompting Nova to quickly correct herself. "I mean, Dan," she corrected with a slight blush, feeling a bit embarrassed by her mistake. Daniel chuckled softly, pleased by her adjustment. "That's more like it," he remarked, his smile widening. "Now, what did you want to talk about?" Nova took a deep breath, steeling herself for the conversation ahead. "I was hoping to discuss taking a day off," she began, her tone confident. "My friend Lily and I have some important errands to run, and we were hoping to go shopping for our new apartment." Daniel nodded, listening attentively to her request. "Of course, Nova. I don't see any problem with that," he replied, his tone supportive. "You've been working hard, and you deserve a break. Take the day off and enjoy yourself." Relief washed over Nova as she thanked Daniel profusely for his understanding. With her leave approved, she couldn't wait to share the good news with Lily and embark on their exciting day of apartment shopping. As she left Daniel's office, Nova couldn't help but feel grateful for his kindness and support, knowing that she was fortunate to have such a considerate boss. After successfully securing the day off, Nova and Lily wasted no time embarking on their apartment shopping adventure. They browsed through furniture stores and home décor shops, carefully selecting pieces that would complement their new space. With bags filled with their newfound treasures, they decided to take a break for lunch. As they sat down at a quaint café, enjoying sandwiches and salads, Nova broached the topic of retrieving her belongings from her old apartment. "I need to get my stuff from my old apartment without my father knowing," Nova confessed quietly, her gaze fixed on her plate. Lily nodded in understanding. "Okay, so when's the best time to do it?" she asked, her tone supportive. "In the evening," Nova replied, her voice tinged with determination. "He'll be downtown at some bar, probably playing cards." "Let's go then," Lily said decisively, her eyes filled with determination as well. With their plan in place, Nova and Lily finished their meal and set out to tackle the next item on their to-do list. As they left the café, a sense of purpose filled the air, knowing that they were one step closer to making Nova's new apartment truly feel like home.As Nova and Lily entered the apartment, Nova wasted no time in packing her belongings. She carefully gathered her things, including some precious memories of her late mother, ensuring they were safely stowed away. As they prepared to leave in the cab, Nova froze as she heard her father's voice from behind. Turning slowly, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination, she faced him squarely. "Where do you think you're going?" her father demanded, his voice laced with anger and disbelief. Nova squared her shoulders, her resolve firm. "I'm leaving. I'm leaving this hell, I'm leaving you," she declared, her voice steady despite the tremor in her hands. Her father's expression darkened, his features contorted with rage. "You think you can leave this easily? I'm your father.Nova replied, "I don't owe you anything. I'm freeing myself now, I'm not going to hold back anymore." "Give me my money," he demanded, his voice harsh and demanding. Nova's eyes widened in disbelief, tears welling up as she struggled to comprehend his words. "Excuse me, what money?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. In that moment, Nova realized that her father's greed and cruelty knew no bounds. But she also knew that she had made her decision, and nothing would deter her from escaping the toxic hold he had over her life. With a steely resolve, she turned away from him, leaving behind the darkness of her past as she stepped into the light of her uncertain but hopeful future. Nova's father declared confidently, saying, "The money with which i raised you!" Her father's words hit her like a slap in the face, igniting a fire of indignation within her. "Raised you!? Do you know what does this sentence even means?" she said incredulously, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief. "You really think you raised me? You have no qualities of a father in you. You never did anything as a father for me." Her words hung heavy in the air, the weight of years of neglect and abandonment fueling her righteous anger. Nova's voice rose with each accusation, her pent-up frustration finally finding an outlet. "Where were you when my school fees were pending? Where were you when I had a high fever and needed someone to care for me? Where were you when I had to take admission in college, struggling to navigate a world that seemed intent on crushing me at every turn?" Tears welled up in Nova's eyes, a potent mix of pain and anger clouding her vision. She stood before her father, trembling with emotion, as years of resentment and hurt poured out of her in a torrent of words. "You never raised me," she declared, her voice breaking with emotion. "You were never there for me when I needed you the most. And now, you have the audacity to claim that you raised me? No, father, you did not raise me. You abandoned me, neglected me, and now you're just a stranger to me." With that final declaration, Nova turned away from her father, her heart heavy with the weight of their fractured relationship. She knew that she had spoken her truth, and nothing he could say or do would change the reality of their broken bond. It was time for her to leave the darkness of her past behind and step into the light of a future she would carve for herself.
