Chapter Nine: What's wrong with her

"Looks like the boss has finally arrived" Xander said in a calm voice as he stood up and walked towards Estella.

"Well sir, I'm sorry for...”

"Sorry?" Xander scoffed. "Will your apology make up for the time lost?" Xander asked in a voice that sounded cold as he moved closer to Estella with bloodshot eyes. This woman was really testing his patience. She really liked to irritate him.

Estella looked into Xander's eyes and in that instant, She saw a man who looked like Xander standing over a girl with the same look Xander had. Estella didn't know who the man was, but for some reason, she was terrified of him. It felt like the man was going to harm her and not the little girl. The scene left her head aching and her breathing heavier.

"Speak" Xander commanded.

After seeing that vision, Estella became afraid of Xander. She did not understand why maybe because he looked similar to the man she just saw. All she understood was that she was feeling weaker.

"I'm really sorry sir, I wasn't feeling too well and I woke up late as a result of that.

Xander didn't say anything for a moment. He looked at Estella intently and could sense that something was wrong with her. She was avoiding his gaze and looked terrified for some reason but he decided to ignore it.

"Oh really?" He asked sarcastically "You have only worked here for a day and you're already feeling unwell. What happened to Estella Jenner. Did I have an effect on you so fast?" He asked wanting to get a reaction from Estella.

"I'm really sorry sir" Estella apologized while avoiding Xander's gaze. She didn't even have the energy to argue with him. for some reason, he terrified her and she wanted him to leave her alone.

"I was late today so you have every right to be angry. I promise it won't happen again sir". Estella said quickly. She felt her breath getting out if control. The room suddenly felt smaller and she couldn't breath properly.

Xander was shocked by Estella's behavior. 'What happened to her?' He asked himself. He looked at her and noticed that her face had become pale. She was even avoiding his gaze. Maybe she was sick and he should be nicer to her. No! She messed with him and Xander Gallgher never spares his enemies no matter what. He thought to himself.

He looked at her again and decided not to push the matter anymore. He simply said "Kenzie has dropped some files on your desk which contains my schedule. As my personal assistant, you'll be the one handling that. He said and continued "We have a meeting with some clients in twenty minutes. Study the files about them. Oh, whatever is making you sick better be out of your body in the next twenty minutes. I don't want a sick assistant". Xander said plainly and left Estella's office.

After Xander left, Estella slumped into her seat as she was still feeling weak. "What kind of human is he?" She asked herself. " Doesn't he have a heart?"

She looked at the files in front of her and remembered that she had a meeting in about twenty minutes. "s**t" She cursed. She had to start working on the files or else, Mr Grumpy wouldn't miss his chance to scold her.

Xander sat in his desk and looked at his schedule. He had three meetings back to back from Eight to two. He had many clients to attend to. As he looked through some files, He remembered Estella and how strangely she was acting. "Is she really sick or is She pretending?" He asked himself. "She didn't even argue. Maybe She's is starting to fear me". Xander became confused and this irritated him as he hardly got confused and especially not for a woman. "Damn" he cursed

He looked at his watch and saw that he had twelve minutes before the meeting started.

He dialed the intercom and a female voice answered. She was Andrew's Assistant. "Tell Andrew to get ready to welcome the clients"

"Ok sir" She answered and with that, he hung up.

He looked at Estella through the glass wall and he could see her working on the files. "She doesn't seem sick to me" He commented. He dialed his intercom and Estella answered and looked at him.

"Yes sir, what can I help you with?" She asked.

"Bring me a cup of black coffee" He commanded in a frigid voice.

"Yes sir" Estella responded.

He watched her get up from her chair to go get his coffee.

Estella went out muttering under her breath "Does he have to be so rude? I am Estella Jenner, I have been served my whole life and now I have to serve this i***t. He has no idea of who I am".

She was angry. She had never been spoken to like this and now, this i***t was treating her like his slave. As she walked around the building, She realized didn't know where the kitchen was. She was lost. Great!

She asked one of the employees where the kitchen was and finally found it after many twists and turns. She began making the coffee and took sachets of sugar as she didn't know how many he put in his coffee.

She brought Xander his coffee and put it on his table. "Here's your coffee sir".

Xander did not reply. He continued looking at his files ignoring Estella. He flipped the pages and continued reading. "Maybe he didn't hear me" Estella said to herself. "Sir, your coffee" She said a little louder.

Xander spared her a glance and looked at his watch. It was almost time for the first meeting. He dropped the files and looked at Estella. "I do not want it anymore".

Estella couldn't believe her ears. After all the trouble she went through to make the coffee, He didn't even spare the coffee a glance. Huh, She felt like killing him there and then.

Xander on the other hand, was enjoying the look on Estella” face. She looked very irritated and He knew She was thinking of ways to kill him.

"Why are you glaring at me Estella?" Xander asked with a smirk on his face.

Estella didn't say anything. If she opened her mouth, he wouldn't like what She would say. She wasn't feeling well and this asshole was messing with her. She picked up the tray and turned to leave Xander's office.

"After you drop the coffee, report here with the files. It's time for the meeting"

Xander felt happy seeing her like that. She was flying so high and now He had cut her wings.

"This is only the beginning Estella Jenner". He would make sure he repays her for the slap.

It was one o'clock when the second meeting ended. Estella was the last to leave the conference room. She was tired. She just had two meetings without a break and she still had one more to go. Her stomach growled which made her realize She was hungry.

She hadn't eaten all day. She felt weak again. "It must be because I'm hungry". She muttered to herself.

She left the conference room and proceeded to meet Xander. As his assistant, She had to be by his side at all times. She saw Xander talking to his clients alongside Andrew. They seemed to be having a serious discussion and She didn't want to pry, so she stood at a distance.

Estella was looking at Xander talking to the clients. She was starving. She sighed and asked herself "Aren't they tired?"

"I'm also thinking about the same thing" said a man which made Estella turn her head to look at the man. Estella recognized him. He was also in the meeting.

"s**t" She cursed in embarrassment "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to say it so loudly".

"It's okay" He smiled. "I understand how you feel right now". He touched his stomach and whispered, "I'm also starving"

Estella laughed at his words and he laughed too. "I'm Henry" He smiled and extended his hand to Estella.

"I'm Estella" She said taking his hand.

"Such a pretty name for a pretty lady" He said while holding her hand.

His compliment made Estella blush "Stop flattering me" She said shyly.

"When I see something pretty, I can't help but compliment it" Henry said as he let go of her hand.

Estella's face turned red and she looked down in embarrassment.

He brought out his phone and was about to request for her phone number when He was interrupted by his boss. It was time to leave. He turned to leave "I would like to hang out with you sometime Estella". He said before leaving.

"Sure why not? Estella replied.

Estella enjoyed the few minutes she spent with Henry. He was really sweet and funny plus, He was handsome. Estella didn't realize She was blushing just thinking about him.

"S-sir" Estella turned to his direction and saw him standing with his hands crossed and his demeanor as cold as him.

"To my office" He commanded and Estella had no choice but to follow.

He entered his office and She followed him. As soon as She shut the door, He turned and faced her. He looked angry. "But why is he angry?". She asked herself.

"You really do not know how to behave in an office do you?"

"Huh?" Estella asked in confusion. She looked into his eyes and could see a storm brewing in them.

"Who do you think you are?" How dare you flirt with Henry during office hours Miss Jenner".

Estella was shocked at how Xander was reacting to her talking to Xander. "Sir, I wasn't flirting with him. We were just talking" Estella defended herself.

"Talking" Xander scoffed "And talking also involves you holding hands with him?" Xander asked through gritted teeth.

Estella looked at Xander and could see that he was angry. Why was he overreacting. All Estella could see was a big baby in front of her who complained about everything. She wanted to answer but decided against it. She wasn't in the mood to argue.

"I'm sorry sir" She apologized.

"Do you think that everything will be solved with an apology?" Xander asked.

After the meeting, He was talking to the clients about finalizing the deal when He saw Estella holding hands with Henry and smiling. Xander could feel his ears getting heated as he watched them. How dare she flirt with another man in his presence. This woman was really good at making him angry. He ended the conversation with the clients and walked over to Estella. She didn't even notice that he was standing beside her. She was so engrossed in her conversation with that Assistant. She even thought of seeing him again.

He didn't understand why he was so angry about it but he couldn't help it.

He moved closer to Estella and said "If you ever see that assistant again, then you're as good as fired.

Estella didn't still understand why Xander was reacting this way. Does he hate her so much? She looked at Xander. He was close to her.

"Ahhh" She suddenly screamed. The pain in her head had returned. She could see that man's face again and it was making her terrified. Her breathing became heavier.

Xander looked at her and could obviously see that something was wrong. "Estella, are you okay" He asked as he got closer.

"Don't come closer" She yelled as she start backing up as he came closer.

"Estella" Xander said softly. She looked really terrified. Had he been too harsh in her. He extended his hand towards her trying to calm her down. She instinctively backed away in fear and hit the door. Xander's heart started to beat faster. He was shocked and afraid. Estella was behaving really strangely.

"Ah" Estella screamed the pain was becoming unbearable. She could see blurred visions. She felt the world spinning and fell down. She didn't fall though. Instead, a pair of arms caught her.

"Estella, what's wrong?" Estella looked at Xander and could see fear in his eyes.

Her mind suddenly went blank and everything became black as Estella slumped into unconsciousness.

"Estella" Xander called out her name but she wasn't responding. He lifted her in his arms and walked towards a wall. He pressed a button on the wall and scanned his finger. A door suddenly appeared and it lead to a room. Xander carried Estella into the room and placed her on the bed.

It was Xander's private room in his office where he stayed if needed to work late. It was like his mini home equipped with basic amenities including a bathroom and a restroom.

He ran out of the room and dialed the intercom. Andrew answered coldly and said "Yes what do you want?"

"Call the doctor Andrew. Estella just lost consciousness". Xander said with a shaky voice. His heart was beating fast.

He didn't wait for Andrew's reply. He rushed to Estella and tried to wake her up but she didn't respond.

"Estella don't do this to me" he pleaded. Memories of a similar scene came back to him. He already lost Fionna. Her wouldn't be able to bear it if he lost Estella too.
