BLUE’S POV
I couldn’t believe that Corbyn’s brother was such a-
Gosh!
Just when I had finally got Corbyn to break out of his shell, and actually date a girl- his brother Chase came and ruined all my hard work. He was such a jerk! It was unbelievable how someone could be so cruel to his own brother?! Especially when the brother was as sweet as Corbyn...
My heart bled for him...
That’s why I wasn’t going to let Chase or the skanky s*x-kitten get away with hurting him. I was going to exact revenge on his behalf if it was going to kill me.
He was lounging on the bed with his eyes glued on my every move. “Blue...? I know what you’re thinking but don’t...”
“I can’t just-”
“I said no, Laura-Jane!”
“We can’t just let them-”
“Cookie...”
“Don’t call me that!” My flustered brain screeched to a halt as memories rushed into my mind. Memories of my mother...
“Then please listen to me Cookie-” A satisfied grin flashed across my face.
“Corbyn...” I warned.
“Are you going to let this go?”
“No...maybe...” I shifted at an angle where he couldn’t see my face.
“You can’t blame Mel-she probably wanted someone more mature...” His self-esteem had taken a beating, and I wasn’t going to let him throw a pity-party.
“She’s a two-timing trick-futanari!” I spat out in rage.
“Well, that’s a good thing. It means I dodged a bullet.” He countered but I could tell that he was trying to mask his wounded feelings.
“I’m sorry Corbs. I thought she-”
“Can we please talk about something else? Where’s AJ?” He enquired after my brother.
“He’s sleeping over at a friends. He’ll be back on Sunday.”
“That’s too bad,” he mused as he took the TV remote and started flipping through channels.
“Hungry?” I relented enough to drop the subject.
“Yeah.”
“Pizza or Chinese?”
I grabbed the phone while Corbyn contemplated an answer. “Can we get both?”
“Sure. Why not?”
Having ordered our food and successfully ‘forgot’ about the elephant in the room, we began to talk about our talent show project and about some changes we meant to make to the song choices.
“Where did you get that poster? It’s autographed too?” He pointed at the banner of my idol Kyle Kinley that was securely glued to the door of my dressing room.
“I stole it from the mall when no one was looking,” I laughed. “They were promoting his new fragrance and I couldn’t help myself.” I shrugged one shoulder and met his amused gaze triumphantly.
He shook his head and rolled his eyes.“Why am I not surprised?”
“Ah! Saved by the bell,” I got up when the summons of the doorbell dragged me downstairs.
Together we went to the kitchen and began putting the food in serving bowls. We sat by the island and the high-stools and ate in silence for a while until finally, Corbyn spoke, his tone conversational.
“Are you going to the Spring Dance?”
“Yeah...Only if you are.”
“What about bookworm bae?”
I laughed without humor.“We both know we won’t be together by then, let alone next week.”
“I figured. But one can only hope Laura-Jane,” he put his fork inside his plate and smiled up at me.
Pushing the plate aside, I cleared my throat, staring into my wine glass. “You know me...”
I poured us another glass of wine as Corbyn leaned back and closed his eyes, finally relaxing. “Thanks, Blue.”
I scrunched my brows, confused. “For what?”
“For distracting me. For just being...you...” His eyes were like soft chocolate pools as he gazed into mine.
I blushed hotly, raised my eyes to his, and said: “That’s what friends are for right?”
“Why did you kiss me Blue?”
“Okaay..this is not the response I was hoping for...” My mouth felt dry and her knees weak. It must be the wine but my mind was telling me otherwise.
“I need to know...was it a pity-kiss?” His eyes darted over to me and stayed there. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but I was pretty sure it was along the same lines of what was running through my own head.
Corby was so noble, too honest, sweet and really innocent. Which one hardly finds nowadays among our generation. He was so frank and had such a good heart. I kinda regretted kissing him-no I lied through my teeth-I don’t.
I just think that he’s too good for me and I don’t want to tarnish his purity with all my ugliness.
“I’m sorry for kissing you Corbyn,” I fiddled with the stem of my glass. “I shouldn’t have ambushed you like that. Your first kiss was supposed to be special, and I ruined it for you.”
His eyes darted over to me and stayed there. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but I was pretty sure it was along the same lines of what was running through my own head.
He stepped closer, liquid courage spurring him on as he slipped his other hand around my waist, pulling me gently against him. “What if I tell you that I liked it? Wanted it? Dreamt about it?”His lips part with a sigh, as if touching me is both a relief and a source of pain.
I felt the floor dip at his confession and I’m struck once again by my pull to him. He closed his eyes briefly as if to fight back the urge to kiss me. I knew without a doubt that I wouldn’t resist if he tried. I would kiss him back with equal fervor.
He’s too beautiful, the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen, and I feel so many things I’ve never felt before. Didn’t even know existed. It’s as if she’s brought something inside me to life
My mouth parted involuntarily, as my hands pressed against him. The warmth of his muscular chest like a magnet. “Corbyn I...” My mouth opened, a denial on my lips, then he reached out for me. Before I could get a word out, he covered my mouth with his.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and let out a breath so intense as we kissed like our lives depended on it. I let out a little whimper, my her hands going to the back of his head, holding him close to me as my fingers come up and tangle in his hair. Pressing the full weight of my body against him as he lifted me effortlessly, placing me on the granite counter. His taste, his scent, the feel of him is all too much...
We jumped apart as the ding of the doorbell interrupted our heated exchange.
"I-I should go..." Corbyn said before he dashed out of the kitchen and out the front as Terrel stepped in; looking equally confused as I was.
