Chapter Sixteen
Her eyes were burning as she closed the door to her bedroom, even though she’d finished crying before she’d pulled in. She’d pretty much bawled from the moment she’d pulled away from the driving school and the entire way back to her parents’ house, feeling again as if she were such a disappointment. Through the tears, she’d had to struggle to see the road, hearing her cell phone ringing and ringing from where it was tucked in her purse on the passenger side.
She was hit with an overwhelming sadness. Why couldn’t she get a break? Everyone at home was under the impression that she and Emmett were still seeing each other, and she’d done nothing to correct anyone, considering she too had still been questioning their status.
