I-Ṣàngó (The series)

We all in Nigeria have heard of the story of Ṣàngó the third Alaafin of Oyo kingdom but no words were spoken of his powerful axe which he uses to control lightning . Well right before Ṣàngó dies he sent the axe into a sacred forest never to be seen by anyone except from his bloodline, years passed and in search of his bloodline Balogun a hunter obsessed of power traveled around the country not until the holiday visit from Lagos. 16 year old Akin Oyeyemi, a lightskinnd kid with natural dreadlocks, visits his grandmother in Oyo with his older sister Adunni who is also light skinned and very beautiful and his best friend Charles Miller who is an half cast. Entering thier grandma's house : Akin: Mama, good afternoon ma. Grandama: Eh my children are home, I'm good son. Adunni: it's been so long since I have been here o, everything has changed alot. Grandma: Ah yes o Adunni, even Oyo is like Lagos now. Who's the oyinbo (Foreigner) Akin: Oh Mama don't you remember Charles my best friend . Charles: Good afternoon Mama. Grandma: Yes I do remember, how are you my son. Charles: Good ma. Grandma: I've prepared your favorites, there's Amala, Efo, Pounded yam and more. Adunni: Ah Mama you didn't need to go through all these stress for us naw. Akin: No o, Mama don't mind her I'll appreciate your effort by eating everything and if she's still busy talking I'll have her meal too (Laughing). Adunni: Ah no ooo, I'll appreciate by eating too. Grandma: (Laughing really hard) You guys are back again with your comedy. After the warm welcome and lunch served to them by thier grandma, late in the night around 10:19 she decided to tell the story of thier forefather Ṣàngó, letting them know how powerful thier family is. Right after thier story telling they all went to sleep and then Balogun's mascot which is a brown hawk flies around town searching for Ṣàngó's bloodline. The hawk flew over Akin's grandma's house and flew right back after sensing that Ṣàngó's bloodline is in there, immediately flies back to its master Balogun and reported. Balogun filled with joy : Balogun: At last!, I found him. He who his going to bring me the power of the powerful god (Orisha) Ṣàngó. It's time to prepare the ritual and we strike by this time tomorrow (ends by laughing maniacly) 11Am in the morning Akin and Charles just finished having thier breakfast and rushed into the room to play video game. Charles: I'm definitely whooping your butt this time. Akin: I think that was what you said the other day so please it's kinda old (Laughs) Charles: This is gonna be different man, just wait and see (smiles with confidence) While having fun playing video game Adunni enters the room. Adunni: Hey bro do you expect me to do the dishes? Akin: Just please do it for me. Adunni: Oh of course why not but no, I've got a date so sorry bro. Akin: Uhhh seriously we just got here and you already have a date? Adunni: C'mon is that so hard to believe, I mean look at how hot I am (blushing) Charles: Nope, not hard to believe at all (smiling at her) Akin: Dude not cool (telling Charles) Adunni walks out of the room leaving Akin and Charles Akin: Seriously, you gonna be hitting on my sister. Charles: C'mon bruh I wasn't hitting on anyone I was just talking, Okay? Akin: Yeah whatever, you coming to help? Charles: Hmnnn nope, I've got some stuff to do, sorry. Akin: Uhh, yeah of course. Akin also walks out of the room and leaves for the kitchen to start washing the dishes. It was just another normal day at the Oyeyemi home until midnight when they were all asleep, Balogun's ritual was ready and used it to mind control Akin, walking him out of the house and giving him one command, to find the sacred forest Ṣàngó his from the whole world except his bloodline. After hours of walking around the woods, Akin finally found the sacred forest which appeared to have its own magic, Balogun gave Akin another command to enter the forest and grab the axe of Ṣàngó. Akin entered the forest and grabbed the axe, immediately he touched it there was a huge blast all around the forest which woke him up and heard a voice, the voice of Ṣàngó. Ṣàngó : My son you have found my axe, a very powerful weapon I have used for years to conquer many wars is now yours to keep fighting the war and protecting the world from any harm. After Ṣàngó spoke to Akin, there was a blackout and when Akin opens his eyes he was on the bed, like any other person assuming it was just a dream. He woke Charles up and told him all about it and also assuming it was just a dream. Akin: Dude it was crazy, the axe was talking, he said I'm the one who's supposed to use it to fight the war or something. Charles: Okay now it sounds like you're making it up. Akin: What!, you know what just forget it. After the conversation Akin reached for the fridge and there was an electrical surge damaging the fridge and surprising Akin and Charles. Charles: Okay what??? (Amazed) Akin: Oh my God!!!!! (Shouting) Grandma enters and asked what was wrong. Charles: A superhero never reveals his identity (whispering into Akin's ears) Akin: Ummn, Nothing I just had a nightmare nothing much. Grandama: Ah sorry my sweetheart. Akin: Thanks ma. Grandma: I'll soon be done with your breakfast okay. Akin: Okay ma, thanks. Grandma leaves the room. Akin: What do you mean superhero? ( to Charles) Charles: Dude you just fried the fridge with your finger. Imagine how much you can do if you're a superhero. Akin: Oh you're right, I'll be famous! Charles: Well yes but you're gonna be saving lives, oh my God. Akin: But shouldn't we know how I got the powers?, I think it's related to that dream I had. Charles: Or what if it's not a dream. Akin: Oh my God, you think so? Charles: Only one way to find out, time to research about the axe of Ṣàngó. Moving to Balogun's lair. Balogun is filled with anger and hatred for Akin. Balogun: How can an ordinary boy just disappear in thin air with my axe. You must go and find him (talking to his hawk) go now!!!, when I find him I'll collect my axe and kill him cause no one must know about this, now go! Back to Akin's grandma's home. Hours after researches Charles was convinced the axe has been missing ever since Ṣàngó died and Akin found it and it's power. Charles: Everything that happened to you in that dream is real, according to my research you found the long lost axe of the yoruba god of thunder Ṣàngó. Akin: So that means I can control lighting and thunder too like him. Charles: Huh, I think so. Why don't we head out to the old abandoned field and see what you can do. Akin: Oh yeah right. Akin and Charles leaves the house out of excitement to see how much power the axe gave Akin. After they got to the field they discovered how much powers Akin has which includes strength, speed, flight, electricity manipulation and weather control. When it was getting dark they got back home and had thier dinner. They both rushed into the room. Charles: I'm gonna start working on your supersuit, since Ṣàngó used red and white we definitely using that too. Akin: What about my superhero name. Charles: uhh, what about spark? Akin: What no, I'm more than a spark. What about thunder boy (smiling) Charles: Uhhh, well it's not bad it just sounds dumb. What about Thunder, just thunder. Akin: Okay thunder, No more fear thunder is here ( acting like a superhero) Charles: Okay (chuckles), gotta sleep, big day tomorrow goodnight. Akin: Goodnight bro. Charles and Akin went to bed early to save the energy for tomorrow's big day. On a sunny Saturday back at the old abandoned field, Charles and Akin were train how to use Akin's superpowers. Balogun's hawk also arriving at the field and watches them till they were done and flies back to its master to report. At Balogun's lair. Balogun: So this is what they're using my axe to do (yelling really loud) and I know what exactly to do, I'll call my old friends to visit this boy and kill him for my axe. Next morning, Charles was done sewing Akin's thunder supersuit and testing out on Akin until thry heard a scream and dashed to the living room until to meet a treelike monster with no eyes trying to hit Adunni. Out of freight Akin ran to hide, across the room Charles also hid. Charles: What are you doing aren't you supposed to fight it. Akin: What, are you mad, don't tell me you expect me to fight whatever that is. Charles: C'mon, you're a superhero remember, you can do this. Akin: Oh no no no. When in doubt of who he is Akin heard the voice of Ṣàngó. Ṣàngó: My son be the warrior you were to be and conquer because victory is yours. Akin: Yes I can do this and I will. Feeling more confident, Akin runs to the front of the creature yelling and hits it with a lighting bolt and leaving it to die. Akin and Charles confused on what creature it was that attacked them. Charles: Don't what in the hell this is but I know more are coming. Akin, I think you're right and I must be ready. Charles: Yeah, more training. At Balogun's lair realizing the creature he sent wasn't enough for Akin, knowing how powerful he's getting every minute. Balogun: If this kid wants war I'll give him war and kill him and any other people that comes my way. Back at grandma's house, Thier grandma getting back from the market meeting the house scattered and seeing Adunni hurted and coughing, she immediately called the hospital and rushed there. At the hospital, Grandma: Guys what happened while I was at the market this morning. Akin: Hmnnn, I..... There..... Adunni wasn't out of the hospital room Adunni: We were playing a really rough play and I hit my head on the wall, nothing serious ma'am. You owe me (whispers to both Akin and Charles) Grandma: Oh God you guys won't kill me, how many times have I said please no rough Plays, you see now. Charles & Akin: So sorry ma, won't happen again. While having thier conversations more of the same creatures that attacked in the morning were eating people and running towards Akin, immediately he uses his speed to move his family and other people away from the hostpital and ran In to fight, putting on his supersuit and fights everyone of the creatures till thier last breath. And that was the day thunder the superhero rose from the shadows and show the world who he is. Now thunder his all over the news, Adunni is now part of the team now she knows the secret and they all fight these crimes together, stopping bank robberies, helping cats down the tree, saving people from accidents and assuring the town they have a hero. While Akin was running around saving lives and fighting crime Balogun was scheming his new evil plan to end Akin and own possession of the axe.
