It was one of the most tumultuous events in the recent memory of the citizens of Armagh. Crowds filled the streets, funneling towards the city square and on to the cathedral where the majestic procession ended. The people cheered and applauded as Brian Boru and his entourage ascended the steps to the church. Armed guards and militiamen surrounded it as the King arrived to attend Mass that Sunday morning.
