You Have A Way With Me

GEMMA The second week of high school, I'm sitting at one of the Freshman lunch tables, staring down at my food lost in my own world. "So this is how high school is going to be", I thought to myself... Being policed by my boyfriend CJ. I fell in love with CJ very young, or what I thought was love. We've been going steady since the 6th grade, he was my "first" for everything. Here lately, CJ's been getting very possessive and more and more controlling. I'm not allowed to speak to other guys and CJ has a habit of putting his hands on me, my head in a locker door etc. if he even thinks another guy is looking my way much less me actually speaking to the opposite s*x! I've tried desperately to get away from him but his threats are real, so I'm stuck. Out of nowhere I hear "Hey Gemma!" My friend Haley has no patience for CJ and loves to aggravate him every chance she gets. Haley moves to sit down next to me at the lunch table and as she does this causes CJ to get up with a huff. He quickly walks over to the table where all the football players sit. Haley being Haley, she whispers in my ear, "I've got somebody that wants to meet you!" I look up from my food. As I roll my eyes at her, I think to myself "I know everybody she knows." I look over to see if CJ is out of ear shot, sure enough, at the jock table I see that CJ is trying desperately to insert himself into any one of the upper classman's conversations. So I inch my head closer to Haley and ask, "Who wants to meet me?" Haley just smiles and says "It seems you have caught the eye of an upperclassman!" "Upperclassman?" I'm not sure what to say to that. I don't know very many Senior guys, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I don't know any Senior guys. Haley laughs at the face I'm making as I think to myself. All of a sudden CJ walks back up to the table with the usual scowl on his face and asks Haley "What's so funny?" Haley gives him a deadpan look then rolls her eyes as if he never spoke a word. Well I'm sure going to be hearing his two cents on this later. Haley and I get up from our seats as the bell sounds announcing the end of A lunch and the three of us walk down the hall towards our lockers. I knew it was coming, CJ's insecure a** chewing I knew I'd get because he wasn't included in our girls conversation or maybe he thought we were talking about him. Conceited man child that he is. As soon as Haley said her goodbye heading to her own locker CJ layed into me. "I know you and Hailey were talking sh*t about me Gemma!" And before I could say a single thing to defend myself and my friend, he started in on the name calling. "You and Haley are f***ing b**ches, I know y'all were talking sh*t about me!" He began to get louder, unconcerned with anyone in our freshman class saying a word to him about how he was speaking to me. He purposely bumps me into my locker as he starts to walk away. All of a sudden, I see CJ get grabbed by the collar and slammed into a locker not five feet from my own. It happened so fast, one minute CJ bumps me and begins walking away with that damn smirk on his face and then he gets his a** body checked into a locker! I see Haley running up to see what's going on and I hear the blond guy, who looks like he's probably a Senior tell CJ, "Don't ever touch her again!" Holy sh*t the look on CJ's face is freaking priceless! "Where's a camera when you need one" I thought to myself. Haley, who's stifling her laughter barely squeaks out, "I know right!" Crap! Did I say that out loud? Damn it, I'm going have to ask Haley for a ride home this afternoon. I'm not going anywhere near CJ after this. Standing there with Haley and probably most of the school in the middle of the hallway watching CJ get man handled was epic! How does he like it! I hear the blond guy tell CJ "the next time I see you anywhere near her or hear of you putting hands on her again, I'll beat your punk a**!" Who's this older guy who seems to be my blond hair, blue eyed avenging angel? I ask Haley,"Who is that?" Haley says"that's the guy!"
