Chapter 19 July 2018 The blue door loomed in front of me like some sort of creepy monolith. I wasn’t sure why I hesitated. It was the fourth Wednesday of the month, and that meant that Barry was out cashing and spending his disability check. In fact, we’d covertly watched until we saw him leave the building before we entered. Devon stood behind me, solid in his support and ready to help in any way possible. We’d come to pick up the few items I’d left here before fleeing last week. Part of me considered leaving everything and waiting until I’d earned enough to buy new clothes.
