Getting to know kwen was exciting and strange. I'm learning that even though we're practically the same age, she feels older and wiser. I think the life she has had to live definitely played a part in it. She told me not to feel guilty for something I had no part in, but I couldn't help but feel somewhat responsible. I'm just glad she's not holding it against me. We all learned that she has this weird sense of smell and can sense another person's aura. I've never heard of that before. The way she described it, and in such detail, we all knew she was being honest. I thought it was cool at first, but then I looked at her silver hair, and I immediately got worried. I have to talk to dad soon about what she told me, or maybe she can tell him... actually, maybe commander Bruce is who we should tell. She seems to really trust Elias. Apparently, the scent she smells on us is like a peephole into our souls. She felt comforted by my scent and aura. I was really happy about that. I enjoyed getting to know her. I was beginning to understand what Shadow meant about her being stronger than she appears. We learned that by the age of 10, she was a black belt in about 3 martial arts and studying 2 others with a potential third, and she took up dance. Not only that, she's a freaking genius. She just graduated high school and is about to start college... like, who does that?? My sister is amazing.
We were on our way to the training grounds since she really wanted to spar with Elias. She wasn't wrong about one thing. I was hella nervous to spar with her, or anyone to do so, for that matter. I decided to minlink my dad on our walk.
"Hey, dad?"
"Yea. What is it, son? Everything's ok? How's Kwen?"
I chuckled at him.
"I'm good too, you know."
We both chuckled.
"She's good. We were all talking and getting to know each other, and we found some things out."
"What kind of things, Daniel?"
"Well, for one, she's crazy smart. Did you know she starts college soon?"
I said that with a little too much enthusiasm. Dad chuckled lightly.
"Yes, I did know that. She told me. I was just as shocked. Was there anything else?"
I paused. I wasn't too sure if I should say something about her sense of smell. It wasn't that I didn't trust dad. Who I didn't I trust was mom with that information. Mates shared everything, and I didn't know if my dad could keep it a secret.
"Son?"
"Umm... I'm gonna tell you something that you have to promise not to repeat. Maybe to the guy's dads, especially to Commander Bruce. Kwen seems to really trust Elias."
"Uhh, ok. What's wrong?? "
"Kwen has a strong sense of smell."
"Ok? So, at least we know that she has inherited our sense of smell. What's so wrong with that?"
"No, dad. I mean, strong. Did you know the scent she smells on us is completely different from how we smell each other?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"She said I smelled of coconut and honey."
"Haha, do you, now? You've always smelled of a beachy citrus to me. So it's not that far off."
"Yeah, well, that's not the end of it. She can apparently smell, see, sense, or whatever she does, our auras."
There was a long silence.
"Dad?"
"How did she describe it?"
He seemed on edge all of a sudden, which put me on high alert.
"She said that my aura reminded her of yours. Calming, yet protective. Big but not smothering. She said I relaxed her. "
I went through all of what she said about us all in detail. My dad sat quietly as he listened. I finished as quickly as I could.
"She doesn't know what hidden power she felt from Stephen?"
I just realized that dad added the beta, gamma, and commander to our link.
"No, she didn't. But we've all known how strong he is and how quickly he picked things up. We just thought he was a natural. I'm starting to think maybe there's more to it."
I explained to Gamma Jake about his son.
"She said Elias would make a great teacher and that he'd be the only one to fight her fairly, even if he worries. She trusts him?"
Commander Bruce asked inquisitively.
"Yea, that's what she said. It was shocking because we didn't tell her who we were to each other or who their dads were. There's no way she should know that Elias will be commander one day and that all commanders are also teachers/trainers."
Everyone sat in silence, tryna absorb the amount of information I was throwing at them.
"You all are going to the training grounds, right?"
"Yea, dad. We're here now."
"Ok. We're on our way."
With that, our connection disconnected.
"Danny? You with us?"
After refocusing, I realized Kwen was right in my face, smiling at me. I didn't even realize I was standing in the middle of the ring. Logan and Steph were sitting on the benches waiting for the match to begin. I looked at Elias and Kwen.
"My bad. Be careful, Kwen, ok? Elias is an amazing fighter."
She smiled.
"I'll be ok, Danny. Don't worry. I'm a great fighter, too, you know."
I nodded and looked at Elias.
"Don't hurt my sister."
I said it with all seriousness. He snorted.
"Like I would."
I nodded and headed over to the benches. I'm hoping she's as good as those black belts say she is. Kwen is about to go up against one of the best fighters, and he just so happened to be the commander's son.
"You good, D?"
"Yeah, I'm cool, Steph. I mindlinked my dad and told him about some of the things she told us. I asked him to keep the whole aura thing to himself, aside from our dads. I'm not sure if she's who we think she is, but what we just heard is not normal."
"Oh, you mean the whole aura thing? Telling me that I have some hidden strength or saying that Elias would make a great teacher, which we all know he will someday?"
Steph asked.
"All of it. They all seemed a bit frazzled by it."
I sighed heavily.
"Don't worry, D. She's gonna be fine."
Logan said reassuringly.
"I don't know, man. I just got her. She just got here. Now it feels like danger is just lurking around the corner for her. She was kept safe for 12 years, and I don't want that to change all of a sudden. I don't want her to regret coming here... I don't want her to hate me... hate us for who we are... especially if it comes with pain. She's already lost her world and the way she knew of it. I would hate for her to hate ours."
We all sat in silence and focused on the fight that was about to ensue. Please, Moon Goddess, keep my sister safe.
