Bella
I waited outside the mansion. I sat down on the gutter on the blazing morning breeze. It is Sunday morning and it's my day off today until tomorrow at six in the morning. I'm waiting for Helios's car to come pick me up. It's been a month since I started working in this house. I made friends with Isaac and Millie while me and Aurora is not that close, just like her relationship from every staff. She's pretty quite and all but she gives me a smile every single day.
"Hey, Bella. Sorry for being late. Mum's kept telling me to buy this and that." He chuckled as I closed the door of his car. I remember the first time I rode my boss' expensive car. The whole car filled by my own scent, it's really awkward because I feel like I don't smell good because I don't wear any perfume. But for the good part, Sir Leon didn't say a thing about how I smell. He's that kind to his employees.
"Buy what?" I asked politely. He shrugged as he give all his attention on the road. "She wants to cook your favourite meatballs and spaghetti and she forgot to buy the ingredients yesterday so he wants me to run for it. Hassle for my time if you ask me."
"She don't need to do that." I retorted
For the past month, my father never got a chance to lay a hand on me because I was staying at Leandra's apartment every Sunday for my day-off. But, for the most part, I still make sure that he is eating enough. I think that's a good thing for the both of us. If I'm going to take care of him, I should do it from afar. That's most likely to save me from getting my body beaten to death, just like I experienced before I took the job offered by Leandra's.
"You know, mum. She will keep on insisting to do things no matter how many times you refused to her offer. In fact, I'm craving for meatballs and spaghetti too so, it's not big if a deal." Helios winked at me.
I gave the smile that he gave to me. Helios is really a nice guy. I hope every man in this world is like him. He knows when to shut up and when to give his opinions and reasonings, which is always on point.
"How's Papa?" I asked, gripping the end of my dress tightly. I looked up to Helios and I saw his jaw clenched and his grip on the steering wheel got tighten revealing all the vein. He doesn't like the question, and it pisses him off.
Every Sunday, I ask him how my Papa doing or every time I get a chance to call him when I'm not doing anything in the mansion. He doesn't like it but he doesn't have any choice. I wanted to make sure how my father doing whether if he is eating good or drunk. Maybe he misses beating me up, that makes him lonely for sure. No worthless daughter around, no punching bag.
But the nightmares and the trauma of the years worth of beating is still messing up my own head. Every single night, I get nightmares, to the point I get scared of sleeping even though my body is craving for some rest because I got a rough and busy day at work.
I flinched every time someone is close to me, or someone is about to touch me because I'm scared that they will hit me in a second. Luckily, no one in the members of the staff noticed me, being jumpy and flinching every minute.
Even, Sir Leon didn't notice it when I cleaned his penthouse. I really got scared when I heard him and the other guy shouting and they look like they're fighting. It took me minutes to convince myself to go and see what is happening even though I'm a little shaking from the shouting and the curses. And when he cling his hands to my arms, I got the nerve to pushed him away and run but I managed to shrug it off and proceeded to cleaning the messy carpet.
But, I cried the night of that day because I'm so stressed out. I'm proud of myself from controlling my actions but I'm stressed out. I feel so drained and craved for some good sleep, which never happened for the past month that I'm living there because I still got nightmares.
I am just so thankful that no one hears me screaming from my sleep because our room in there is sound proofed.
"Oh, Bella! How are you my dear?" Leandra asked the moment I stepped inside their apartment. I smiled widely when she gave me a big hug. "I am fine. Looking for some rest for today. How was your week?"
"Pretty productive. Kids at the orphanage keeps me busy everyday." She smiled. She's currently working as one of the staff at the St. Claire's Orphanage in downtown.
She walked back to the kitchen to continue cooking while my eyes find Helios. My question earlier left unanswered. When I can't find him, I decided to go in the kitchen and asked Leandra.
"Hi. Can I ask something about Papa?" I started. "Helios didn't answer me."
Leandra looked unbothered by my questions. Maybe because she's used to my attitude towards my father. Whatever he did, I still care for him, and I think that's the downside of being a soft hearted like me.
"He is doing well, dear. I send him dinner everyday since he's still working at the construction site. I clean your apartment every other day except your room because it is pretty neat."
"Is he still using drugs? Or still come home drunk?" I hesitated to but I know I have to.
"Yes. Two days ago, he trashed the whole apartment because he's drunk and under the influence. Luckily, you're not there because for sure, he will beat the hell out of you again."
I lowered down my head to hide the pain in my eyes. I mentally smiled in disappointment because I hoped that he will change for a little but I'm wrong. And Leandra's right, if I was still in that apartment two days ago, I will get beaten pretty bad. I'm sure that would happen because he is used in beating me like it was just a normal thing for him.
"But don't worry, my child. We give him enough food. You don't have to worry, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you."
When the dinner is finally done. I tucked in myself in Helios's bed and I opened my book. Reading before bed helps me ease my mind off something. It helps me relax and escape from how full of s**t my life is right now.
I heard Helios came in his room. I didn't say anything. instead I let him get whatever he need to do in here. This is his bedroom after all.
"You still mad?" I heard him. I felt his presence at the edge of his bed. I closed down the book that I was reading to turn my attention fully to him. I look at him in confusion.
"Mad about what?"
"I didn't answer your question about your father." He muttered under his breathe. I shook my head and I smiled lightly, "I'm not mad at all. I asked you a question, I am not demanding an immediate answer whatsoever and beside, you have all the rights to avoid the question."
"Yeah, I know. I just hate guys hitting woman is all."
"I know. You have a wonderful and kind mother, if something happened to her similar to what happened to me, you will be in rage."
"I'm just concerned to you." He said, his eyes is apologetic and angry at the same time.
"I know and I thank you for that. But you have to understand, after my mother, my Papa is the only family I got." I tried to reason out.
"We're your family too, you know."
"I know but I promised my mother that I will take care of my father while she's gone."
Even though my Papa is not that nice to me ever since my mother left, I will still keep my promise to my mother. That's why I still hoping that he will change someday, not for me but for himself. That's why I'm working hard right now to prove to him that I'm not that worthless brat.
"Okay. Good night, Bella."
"Night, Helios." He kissed my forehead softly before he headed outside to sleep.

I was cleaning the second floor lounge room when I heard a loud thud of a door. I'm finally back at the mansion and currently doing what I needed to do for work. The second floor is big and spacious with a gas fireplace and little living room and a bar for wine and beer. One time, Sonia said that this the floor mostly used when Sir Leon's friends are over that's why I should always clean this every single day.
There's only three bedrooms here, including the mater's bedroom which is occupied by Sir. Leon. There's chandelier at the ceiling which is luckily I don't need to clean because i don't know what will I do if I destroy that expensive modern chandelier.
"Who's that guy from earlier?" I flinched when I hear Sir Leon's baritone voice. I took a couple of deep breathe to calm myself.
"Oh, that was my friend Helios from home, Sir. He dropped me off every week after my day-off."
His frowned while looking at me. "Helios? He is not your boyfriend?" There's a hint of annoyance in his voice, that made think why he's annoyed?
"No, Sir." I answered immediately.
He smirked before fixing his faded hair cut. I noticed that he is only wearing his pink Mickey mouse pyjama and a white shirt. I tried not to smile from looking at his appearance. He looks intimidating in his business expensive suits but when he's staying right here, he wears all this adorable pyjama.
"Don't laugh at me. I'm cute with my mickey mouse pyjama." He said playfully.
"I'm not laughing Sir. I think the pyjama is adorable."
"I'm adorable too, right Bella?"
I nodded without hesitation. I know that he is old enough but he doesn't look old to me. "Yes, Sir."
MY heart beats raised like I'm running when he smiled widely to me revealing his perfect white teeth and his small dimple. No he is not adorable, he's incredibly handsome. Sharp brows with blazing honey colored eyes.
"I know, that's the compliment I want to hear. Tell Sonia I want to eat inside my room and I want you to serve my breakfast." he demanded before playfully wink at me and turned his heel to the other wing where his bedroom is located.
"But, I'm still not done cleaning this floor, Sir."
"I don't care." He sing songed. I was left dumbfounded when he closed his big door. I left with no choice.
You know the problem with big mansions? You need to walk for two to three minutes before you reach your destination. We are just so lucky that Sir. Leon seldom complain to us.
"Sonia, Sir Leon asked me to serve his breakfast to his bedroom. He wanted to eat there." I stated at once. She is currently cleaning all the equipment used in cooking. Pier is drinking coffee from the counter while Millie is moping the floor. Pier and Milan just came home from the grocery store.
"Hello, Bella." Millie greeted me. Pier gave me a soft smile.
"Good morning, Milan." I teased. She playfully rolled her eyes at me that made me chuckle.
"Did Sir Leon told you why?" Sonia asked while preparing the tray, filling it with foods. I shook my head in response. He doesn't look busy to me, he's playful and relaxed. "Maybe he just wants to eat in his room." I muttered, getting one gummy bear from Isaac when he offered me.
When Sonia is finally done, I carefully picked up the tray and turned my heel towards the grand staircase to deliver the breakfast of my boss. I really do admire the staircase and the portraits hanging on the side.
I immediately saw his room's door open. From the little hallway, I can already see how big and grand his bedroom is. There's a little lounge area after you came in, the beautiful view from the balcony is visible even if you don't go to the balcony because of the wide glass doors. There's a gas fireplace at the center of the room separating the lounge room and the bed itself.
"Put that delicious breakfast on top of the table, thank you." I heard his voice that sent shivers down my spine.
I did what he said. When finally done, I saw a couple of shirts, pants and ties all over the lounge room. "Sorry for the mess, I'm trying to see what I want to wear for work today."
"It's totally fine. Do you want me to pick them up and fold them?" I suggested because I really cannot stand messy place like this.
"Sure. They're all clean."
I started to pick the clothes up, one by one, whilst Sir Leon started eating. There's a lot of trousers and ties as expected. I sat down on the love seat beside him and started folding the his clothes and ties. I felt a little awkward because he kept on glancing up to me but I decided to shrug it off. Maybe he just amazed that I look like a doll like everybody was saying about my face.
I noticed the multiple CDs of child songs and Disney movies on the table. I smiled when I saw the Beauty and the Beast. My favourite movie.
"Do you have a baby, Sir?" I cannot help but to ask.
He look at me in confusion so I pointed to the stack of CDs in front of us. "Oh, that's mine because I'm the baby here." He said while chuckling.
"Ah."
"Why? How about you Bella? You have a kids? Or a baby?"
"No, Sir." I don't even have a crush, especially I don't have a boyfriend.
"Good. You know, I don't like to have kids. I'm too f****d up for that."
I didn't answer. I'm f****d up too but I do want to have kids and adopt at least one kid someday. I want that unfortunate kid to experience what family looks like even though I only experience having a happy family for only a couple of years since my mother left.
"I just wanna ask. Why are you so jumpy?" I gasped when I heard his question. My hands went cold against the fabric of his shirt. My throat went dry in just a span of seconds. I thought he didn't notice?
"I also noticed that you flinched too much."
I stood up as I place the neatly folded clothes and trousers and ties on top of the table carefully. "I will continue cleaning the second floor, now." I bowed my head, I walked directly to the but he grabbed my arm and once again, I flinched.
"Tell me, Bella."
"I-I think it's not part of your business, Sir. Have a good day." I said and I left.
