Kala packed a backpack, and organized her gear. Tobirama was waiting for her at the main gate with his arms crossed as usual. As they began the three day journey to the village, Kala went over the details of the mission in her mind. “There is a group of Uchiha that have taken up residence in a small village. They are terrorizing the residents. They raid homes and even attack the villagers with provocation. Hashirama explained. “Our job is to neutralize them and bring peace to the village.” Tobirama added simply. “Something that only you are equipped to do, if we can figure out how you use it.” Kala nodded. They had made good time and as evening fell, Kala found herself across a fire from Tobirama again. She chuckled. “What’s so funny.” Tobirama grumbled. “I’m remembering the last time this happened.” Kala tells him as she played with a piece of burning wood. Tobirama was cooking fish over the fire. “Did you learn anything the last time?” Kala thought about it. “Can I be frank?” Tobirama shrugged. “I learned that you are a complete asshole.” Tobirama’s eyes went to slits. “You have alot of gall.” Kala shrugged. “My turn?” Kala nodded. “You acted like a spoiled brat, you were arrogant, and way to eager to please.” Kala shrugged. The fish had finished cooking and they ate in silence. With a full belly, Kala lay in her sleeping bag looking at the stars and then the moon. She couldn’t help but think of Madara then. What was he doing? Was he safe? “Go to sleep, woman?” He says simply. “I can hear your mind racing from over here.” The next morning they left and continued on their journey. As they were walking through a forest, the trees began to thin out. Tobirama stopped and put up a hand. Kala stopped as well. Tobirama listened for a moment. There was small group of men ahead. Kala listened as well. They heard someone scream. Kala started to move. Tobirama nodded. And motioned that she was to stay there while he checked it out. Kala rolled her eyes. And stopped immediately when he glared at her. Only this woman could argue in silence. He thought to himself. Tobirama got closer and dispatched the group of men in short order. He brought the woman back to Kala. They backtracked to the last inn they passed. When Tobirama questioned her, she said she had been traveling with a friend when they were ambushed and their money was stolen. The men killed her friend and planned on selling her. Kala was watching people come and go. She grabbed Tobirama’s sleeve. When he turned to snap at her, he stopped. A group of Uchiha had just walked into the tavern. They kicked some patrons out of their seats. There were four. Kala thought for a moment. If Tobirama was going to use her as bait, she might as well start now. Tobirama watched as Kala grabbed a bag of coins from one of the men and bolted for the door. All four men yelled and followed after her. Tobirama followed them at a distance, What the hell did she think she was doing? The men surrounded her. “We’re going to kill you, thief.” One of the men said. Another one of the men grabbed Kala’s breast. “We could have some fun, first.” Kala struck one of the men as hard as she could. He grabbed her by her throat “Sharingan.” He growled. When he activated his, the others followed suit. Then screams and silence. Tobirama found Kala shaking. She had blood running out of both eyes. Tobirama picked her up quickly and found somewhere to camp away from the inn. The Uchiha men would be missed. All they could do it watch and wait for the men to find their comrades. After building a fire, he checked on Kala, her eyes had stopped bleeding. He let her rest, she had answered his question. She was able to use it at will to protect herself. But why had she not affected Madara? “It’s because I love him, Sensai.” She answered him. “Nothing else.” Tobirama, handed her a cup of water. She drank it eagerly. And then ate the rice balls he offered. “Foolish woman.” He replied. When he had searched the dead men’s pockets, he found a map that luckily for them, not only showed the layout of the village, but also the placements of their forces. They would make quick work of them. After resting overnight, Kala seemed to be back to normal. Her eyes had healed. When they got the outskirts of the village, they scouted out the locations of the men and waited for nightfall. Tobirama had Kala back him up as they found each bandit and silenced them. When Tobirama looked back at Kala, she pointed out two more men. Tobirama threw his kunai and the man dropped. As he was about to take out the last one, he saw Kala struggling with him, then in one fell swoop, he saw blood spray and the man fell. A few of the men of the village came out of hiding and walked toward Tobirama to thank him. Kala joined him. The villagers prepared a meal and while Kala and Tobirama were eating, a group of the villagers, disposed of the of their bodies. The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, Tobirama and Kala headed back to the village. As they walked, Kala had the sense that she was being watched. Suddenly, the air around her seemed to shift. She closed her eyes. Tobirama got to her before she hit the ground and picked her up. When Kala woke, she was in the hospital again. Tobirama sat up when he saw her open her eyes. “Kala,” Kala tried to sit up, but got dizzy. “What happened?” She asked as she lay back down. “We were walking back to the village and you stopped. When I saw you start to fall, I caught you. You said “He’s watching me and passed out.” The shifting of the air, it was so familiar. The yellow eyes. “The doctor said that you had signs of eye strain as well.” That wasn’t surprising since she had used her ability to kill four men at once.” You’ve been unconscious for a while. The doctor was worried.” “How long?” Kala asked. Tobirama thought for a moment. “6 months.” Kala breathed heavily for a moment. “Madara?” ” He’s still on his mission. We’re expecting an update later today.” Kala started to climb out of bed, Tobirama stopped her. “No, Kala. You need more rest.” “I’ve been sleeping for months, again.” Tobirama reached his hand out so she could brace herself, she refused. “Sensai, I’d like to get dressed if you don’t mind.” Tobirama nodded and left. Kala got into clean clothes and went to look in the mirror, someone had apparently trimmed her hair while had been sleeping. “Oh no.” She breathed. “Kiko.” Kala bolted out of the room before he could stop her. When she got to Kiko’s shop, she was relieved to see her friend was alright. “I’m sorry, Kiko.” She whispered. Kiko shook her head. “Kala, its alright. Time has flown by with me having you to take care of for the last six months. Do you like your hair?” Kala pulled at a strand of it. “It got really wild, even while you were sleeping, so I trimmed it for you.” Kala hugged Kiko, “Thank you.” Tobirama suddenly picked Kala up. “You’re going back to bed, woman.” “Sensai, please, can I sleep in my own bed?” Tobirama growled. “I told you, you were spoiled.” When Kala woke up again, she was indeed in her own bed. Kiko was holding a damp cloth on her forehead. Something was wrong, somehow she felt worse. “Madara?” She whispered weakly. Kiko smiled, “The report said that both he and Izuna are a few days away from the village. They’ll be home, Kala, both of them.” Kala smiled and closed her eyes. Somehow, Kala woke up with an urge to vomit unlike anything she had ever felt before. When she did, it was black ooze. She heard it hiss in a form of laughter. Suddenly. The end of a staff came down on it. It dissipated into nothing. Kala looked up and saw a young man, his skin white. “There will be no cheating, little brother.” She heard him say. Then blackness took her again. Kala woke the next morning, it seemed so clear and bright. Tobirama stood up and walked to her bedside, “Kala,” He said, “You’re looking much better.” “Where’s Kiko?” Tobirama actually avoided her gaze this time. “You need to rest.” “Sensai-,” she began. That’s when she heard it, a low guttural roar. “Brother!!!” Before Tobirama could even think to stop her she ran. She only stopped when she found herself in front of Madara, holding his baby brother in his arms. Kiko was in a crumpled heap at Madara’s feet. “No.” Kala breathed. Madara started to walk toward the compound. Hashirama joined his brother and watched him walk away. Kala checked on Kiko, she had thankfully only fainted. Most likely at the sight of her beloved.
