REL DOVE UNDER THE console, curses flying as he worked to restore power. Zeth fought the inactive controls, praying for the sensation of pressure against his fingertips. There was no response. His stomach was somewhere around his ears as gravity took hold. Backups! Where the hell are the backups? With one hand, he found the switch. He swiped it. Nothing happened. The second, third and fourth time were useless too. Rel pushed out from under the console and dragged his body forward, grunting as he gripped and forced off wall panel holds. He disappeared into the blackness behind them. Another lightning flash brought momentary, blinding illumination, impairing Zeth’s vision further. In that instant, the controls jerked against his hands as power was restored. Zeth let out a yell of triumph
