FEELING EYES UPON HER as she stepped from the cockpit, Mich focused on Charley’s face. He stood in the open hatchway, water pouring from his hair and jacket. He shook himself like an animal, but his steady glare didn’t leave her face. Did he blame her for their rough landing? A bitter wind swept around his frame and into the ship. She shivered. “Something’s flashing in ya kit. Saw it when I grabbed my coat.” Hurrying to her room, she snatched the communication unit from the top of her bag before the reality of their almost-crash suddenly hit home. She doubled over, gasping, head dizzy as her shivers intensified. Throwing her comm onto her bunk, she dragged a thick pullover out of her pack and pulled it on.
