THE STORAGE BAY WAS dank, dark and there was an odor she couldn’t identify floating like a rotten cloud above the cracked flash-crete. She gagged as they walked through it, and had the awful feeling her clothing would carry the stench for days. Water stains from the leaking roof coated every wall, and flash-crete panels were crumbling or just plain missing everywhere she looked. It was easy to pinpoint the parts of the bay that were pre-war era; many of the loadbearing walls were still scarred with damage from large-scale, ship-based weaponry.
