Thomas Sheffield heaped another chunk of meat pie on to his fork and shovelled it into his mouth. When Thaddeus Beanie had told him earlier that he would never have tasted anything like it, he had thought that the man was just blowing smoke. But he had to admit, this was the most delicious pie he had ever tasted.
His meeting with Thad Beanie had been an all-too-brief one but, by the time the man eventually emerged from behind his kitchen door to introduce himself, the restaurant was beginning to fill up with the first flush of the evening’s diners.
