CHAPTER1
It was a cold evening in the city of Chicago, there lived a beautiful lady named Anne Jones she was 25 years old, who was endowed with a curvy body, dark brown eyes and a long black hair. Anne had some many admirers but none of them caught her fantasy. As an interior designer, she had her own company which she managed. One fateful day she slumped in her office and was rushed to the hospital, there the doctor checked her and discovered that she had an illness that he has no idea of, so he decided to speak to her in private when she had regained consciousness,
“Miss Jones, I think you have a deadly illness,” he said.
Tears welled up in her eyes remembering how she lost her mum.
“Doctor Issac, is there any hope for me, what are my chances to survive.” Her voice trembling.
“I’m sorry Miss Jones, you don’t have much time left to leave.” He shook his head in pity.
“So I’m going to die just like my mum.” Anne murmured crying.
The doctor tried his best to console her to no avail, Anne finally dried her eyes and left the doctor’s office. When she got home she told her dad and grandparents the news, everyone was in a sober mood that evening her dad couldn’t bear it, he couldn’t sleep he was up all night imagining losing his only child to the cold hands of death, he just wished he could die in her stead.
Anne on the other hand kept sobbing in her room and asking, “Am I really going to die?” At midnight, she looked outside the starry night made a wish.
“I wish I could find love before I die, but I really don’t want to hurt anyone. Okay, I wish I can find someone I will love but won’t love me back. Uhmmm, that way no one will be left to suffer the pangs of heartbreak when I’m gone”. With that she slowly pull down the curtains and laid down on her bed and dozed off.
Anne woke up the next morning already accepted her fate, she got dressed had breakfast and left for work, her day was normal until almost time to close. She sat in her office and the thought of her dying soon filled her head, but she prayed that her wish to find love come to pass, now she was thinking of how to find the kind of person that would fit her desire, but she couldn’t put her head around it so she packed up, picked her keys and headed to the garage.
As Anne walked into the dimly lit, cold concrete underground garage, on her way toward her parked car, she heard a voice echoed,
“I really love you, Oscar!”.
Who would have thought that she would witness such a confession in this dark cold place?
“What did you say?” Anne heard a cold husky and deep voice and she flinched even though she wasn't the one the man was talking to. Maybe, she reacted like that because the man sounded so damn intimidating. His tone seems heartlessly cold, what seemed like a romantic confession sounded more like a misunderstanding!
“ I love you” Anne heard the woman’s voice again.
“ I love you so much”. The woman sounded very emotional.
Anne held her breath waiting for his response but silence followed. She wanted to peek but she thought it wasn't the right thing to do. She waited until the man finally replied.
“Is that all?” his reply made Anne gasp in doubt.
“What?… he's so cruel”. She thought.
“W-what?” the woman sounded like she was utterly shocked.
“Tell me what you want”. He asked
“I… all I want is…for you to love me back.” She stammered.
Anne could tell from her voice that she was on the verge of breaking down, the man’s voice didn't soften a little even after hearing her. Instead, he sounded more menacing as he responded to her.
“It’s over,” he said casually without a care in the world.
“W..w..what?”
“I won’t repeat myself”
“W…w..what are you saying? T…the contract I signed clearly stated that I would be your girl for three months and it's only been two months, but now you're saying we're done, what do you me…”
“Hey, Miss Isabella didn't you read the contract properly?” the man’s voice became colder, almost harsh…
“David, come over and read the condition she didn't read.” he added
Anne was shocked to her bones hearing their conversation. “ A contract? Oh my goodness.”
The situation was getting worse and she really wanted to leave but if she leaves now they would catch sight of her. So she rather remain hidden and listen even though she didn't want to anymore.
“Miss Isabella, here is one of the conditions from the contract you signed”… David started talking.
“The contracted girlfriend can request for anything except love, once she demands to be loved in return the contract automatically becomes void.”
Anne couldn't believe what was happening, “is this a movie or what?”
She then decided to take a glance but she couldn't see their faces clearly.
“I told you before now, I don't do love and never will. You of all people should be aware of how I deal with those who break any conditions in the contract.” the man said and cold shivers ran down Anne’s spine. The lady begged and begged to no avail so she entered her car and drove out. Anne was dumbfounded and was about to enter her car when she heard…
