After the week pass was over, Gran left to go back to the city. I was on my own in the forest, in the cabin. Gran taught me the basics to survive, my senses were starting to sharpen, like a pure blood Kitsune’s would before they grew into their fox, this normally happens earlier in life for pure bloods. Since I am a half breed though, it has taken longer due to my Lycanthrope genetics.
It was midday, I was cleaning up a little bit when there was a knock at my door, I wasn’t expecting visitors. I stiffly walked toward the door, peeping through the peep hole to see who it was. There stood a very handsome man, with long black hair, and scars on his face. I held my breath. He knocked again. “Let me in, or I will knock the door down. You smell Delicious.” he spoke in a deep gruff voice.
I stumbled backwards, “No I will not let you in.” I said with authority in my voice. Shaking uncontrollably as I tried to put distance between me and the door. Trying to think of where I could hide, until my visitor left. He banged on my door again, I watched it bow under the might of his blow. In that instant, I took off to my room, crawling up to the one escape I had.
Swinging the hatch in my roof open, I pulled myself up and out, shutting the hatch behind me, I could hear him still banging on my door. As I sat on the roof of my cabin, I wrapped my arms around my legs, huddling, shaking scared of what this person wanted or could do.
By the time sun decided to set, he had finally left, so I crawled back into the cabin, my stomach rumbling, I went to the kitchen to make dinner for myself, which consisted of reheated left-overs from the last few days. Once I was done eating and finished cleaning up, I went to start a bath when I caught a scent I never smelt before.
Someone was near my home, someone who shouldn’t be. I went on high alert, opened the plug on the tub, to leave the water running but so it wouldn’t over flow. On the off chance that it was a wendigo, or the person from earlier, I didn’t want to tip them off that I smelt it. This was my survival tactic, and I would not lose my life this way.
After back tracking through my scent in the house, I made my way to my bedroom where there was a small escape hatch in the roof. Gran said that it was for full moons, so that Damos could bathe in it without leaving her. Once I got into the room, I made sure the curtains were closed and climbed up on my bed. I grabbed the string and pulled the door open, reaching for the opening, and managed to climb my way out. At this point I was happy for gym class; my upper body strength was immaculate.
I managed to keep my body close to the roof, as I looked around. I was at the best vantage point in my small area, I could see for about a mile all the way around. As I scanned, my eyes fell on a wolf, a rather large wolf, I almost lost my breathe at the sight of his size.
As he moved forward, I stiffened, my fight or flight response kicked in. He stalked closer, I watched until I had a perfect chance. The wind blew through my hair at the wrong time. He looked up at me right when I was ready to jump onto of him. This was my only chance so I took it. I sprung and tackled the large wolf.
