Chapter 11: Leave

Kyle

What is he doing? I looked at Ely’s brother. I can imagine why he is here. But if he wants to fight, he just blocked his only way out.

-I’m all ears

- You better walk away from my sister.

-I won’t do such a thing. Like it or not she is my mate. You will understand that when you find yours- I said trying to stay as calm as possible.

-Do you think some flowers are going to fix it?

-I have no idea what you are talking about.

-Oh, really? – he said with a crazy wide smile- you didn’t send a bunch of flowers saying sorry.

- I didn’t.

-Liar.

-I’m not. And if that’s all you should leave OMEGA. You shouldn’t treat an aloha like that.

-I’m not here as an omega, I’m here as Ely’s sister.

Open the door

It was Ely from the other side of the door, I recognize her smell. I miss her.

-Tsk – And I moved towards the door when a vase of flowers flew next to me.

-WE HAVEN'T FINISH!

- Look, whatever happens between Ely and me, it's between her and me. Not you.

-She is my family and I’m going to protect her.

-Good, we want the same thing.

-Are you sure? Didn’t you hurt her?

- Once more, I didn’t.

-You f***ing liar.

- I DID NOT HURT HER.

OPEN THE FREAKING DOOR – Ely was shouting while trying to open it.

-Didn’t you mark her? Uh? Didn’t you f***ing mark her without asking

-…I did. - I said coldly.

- You are dead – and after that, he threw an ashtray towards me.

That’s it, I’m done. I ran and pushed him against the wall and we started fighting. I punched his face multiple times while he was punching my ribs.

-Is that the best you can do? – I said with a smile to piss him off.

Eleonor

 I was desperate. I didn’t know exactly what was going on, but I could imagine.

-PLEASE LIAM OPEN THE DOOR!

By now we were Claire, two bodyguards, and me trying to open the door.

-Kyle please open the door!!- Said Claire.

- That it.- I gave my bodyguard the signal and he took his gun.

- What are you doing? - Claire asked me with a worried face.

-Move- said my bodyguard and he shot where the lock and hinges were. Then the door fell in our direction and a chair, that I guess they were using to lock the door. But I didn’t pay to much attention to that, because Kyle was holding Liam with his hand on around his neck.

- Get out of our business- Kyle was saying to Liam.

-Let him go! - I said grabbing his arm.

Kyle let go of Liam who was coughing and with a deep cut on his shoulder.

-Kyle, seriously? - Claire was crossed, but I was especially worried about Liam.

-Liam, breathe, breathe. It’s okay! - I was telling him while I helping him to sit down on the floor. He put one hand up saying he was going to be okay.

He has to be okay! I said to myself. He is the only family I have left! I took my scarf off and I bandaged his wound. He was still coughing and with several bruises.

-What the hell were you thinking? - Asked Kyle’s sister.

- Hey, I was in my room, he came in, I don’t know-how, he locked the door and said he was going to kill me, what did you want me to do? – he calmed himself and said - Ely, I didn’t want to hurt your brother, I …

-You what? Lost control? - I looked at him. He may have not started the fight. But he didn’t have to almost kill my brother. Really? Is this the guy I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with?

-Ely…- Said Liam between coughs. And then with his hand, he touched where Kyle marked me.

-I know- I put my hand on him - but you were a really stupid brother. You can’t attack an alpha because he marked his mate. Even if it’s your sister…

- The ambulance is coming Beta- said my bodyguard – should I call the police?

- No, I think that won’t be necessary.

Kyle sighed when he heard that. And then I said one of the most painful sentences I ever said. I turned around to look at Kyle.

-You need to leave. - My voice broke and tears were about to spill from my eyes.

-What? Ely please you need to understand.

- I said leave! I can’t deal with everything right now. You need to leave. - No I was crying so I turned around again to comfort Liam who clearly was in pain. He just threatened an alpha, not too many people live when something like that happens.

-But Eleanor if you are marked- Kyle’s sister started to say, but Kyle put a hand on her shoulder making her stop talking.

My chest felt really heavy. My heart felt like it broke into million pieces. My heart was in pain. I just pushed away my mate. But I had to. Too many things were going on, and he almost killed my brother.

I have no idea what I’m going to do, but now the most important thing is Liam's health.

Two days later

I was in Liam's apartment, I just brought him some food and I started cooking for him.

-Ely, I’m fine, I can cook by myself.

-I don’t know how you can call food that thing that you cook.

-Aren’t you busy at work?

-I am, but a have an hour and I want to spend it with you.

-It looks like I’m dying now.

-Well, you almost did – I glared at him.

-Oh, come on! You should have called an ambulance for him, not for me.

-I didn’t see any cut or bruise on his body.

-Yeah, because I’m good at hiding it. But I’m sure he had a couple of ribs broken.

That sentence made me feel weird on the inside. Was I worried about him? I was. I hope he is fine. I hope we can fix this, but I don’t know if it's going to be possible. These last days I’ve been thinking about him, about us, about me, my feelings, about the moon goddess will.

That time we spent in the forest was the best date until…well, you know.

I guess another would be pleased that his mate is an alpha and that he wants to mark her on the first date. I should have been. But I don’t feel like a Luna. I don’t feel like going away from my friends and Liam.

-Have you heard from him? - Liam said interrupting my thoughts.

-No -  I said with a sad voice.

-I don’t know. We need to talk, but I’m really busy with the pack. It's only me, remember?

-I suspended you, and you deserved it

- Whatever…- he made a pause- Do you like him?

I looked at him for a moment. He was looking deep into my eyes. I didn’t need to answer, he knows by only looking at me in the eyes.

-I see… - he said- so, when alpha comes back you will leave?

-No, I haven’t made my decision.

- Ely, you know till the first moon of autumn you can’t ask the moon goddess to find you a new mate.

-I know, so what?

-That is 10 months.

-Good, I have 10 months to think about it.

-And where do you plan to spend those 10 months?

-GOSH LIAM ENOUGH! – I raised my voice - …I’m sorry. But as I said I haven’t made a decision yet. And this is not only about me. It's about Kyle and me.

- Yeah… and he has already decided.

I put the plate with pasta in front of him.

-Just eat, okay?

-YES BETA! - he said raising his hand to his forehead like a military man. – don’t you eat?

-No, I’m hungry, thanks.

A few more days went by and I was starting to feel weaker and weaker. I lost appetite and I wasn’t able to sleep more than 3 or 4 hours. Every time I forced myself to eat something I ended up throwing up. My neck also hurt, but I guess that’s normal. I was marked by an Alpha, with is a stronger mark than usual, and since then I haven’t seen him, heard from him, smelled him…

My emotions are all over the place, sometimes I want to text him saying “Hey I know my brother wanted to kill you, and hey I know you are possessive with your mate but you acted like a dumbass. How do you plan to fix it?” and other times I don’t want to hear about him.

By now almost everyone knows about this situation. And I’m worried, we might look like a weak pack. We don’t have an omega, we need to wait till Alpha Parker comes back to find a new one. We don’t have Alpha in the next 12 days and I, the beta, my future is uncertain…

It was Tuesday again and I was in my office with loads of paperwork when my secretary knocked on the door.

-Sorry beta, these are all the applications for the omega position.

-Thanks, you can leave them on that table.

-Also, your friend Sophie is outside. She insists to see you now.

- Okay – I sighed – let her in.

-Ely, oh my! You are alive! Girl, I haven't stopped hearing about you but not from you!! How are you doing you? You look…erm, tired.

-I’m actually - I took a deep breath and looked at my friend -  I’m falling apart. I don’t know how much weight I lost in the last week, every time I eat I throw up, I don’t have an omega, my brother needs help, we neglected so many things to organize the wedding that now there is a lot of accumulated work, and Kyle is permanently in my thoughts and I can’t stop thinking about him and what I’m going to do with my life.

-Call Alpha to come back.

-No, I can do it, I’m just busy and I have a great lack of sleep, that’s all. Sorry I haven’t replied to your text messages.

-Ely you are an amazing beta. Asking for help doesn’t make you weaker.

-I can’t ask alpha to come back, he is in his honeymoon. That only happens once in your life.

-Eleonor you are going to faint if you continue this way. You need to see Kyle.

-Sophie I appreciate your advice but I can’t leave the pack to solve my love life, and I can’t ask Kyle to come here.

-Why?

-Probably Liam would try to kill him again, and I don’t have time for that or for Kyle now. The pack comes first.

-No Ely, YOU come first.

-You know that’s not the way I think as a beta.

-Ely staying away from you mate in this condition it’s dangerous. You didn’t mark him, did you?

-No, but – my phone rang – Hello?

- Beta, there have been some rogue sightings on the border, in the north. –

- Do you need me to go?

-No, but I think it would be convenient to reinforce security and guards.

- Very good, now I meet the team to organize it. – I hang up the phone – Sorry Sophie, I need to work. See you this weekend if I can?

-Yeah, If you can.

Friday came, luckily the rouges have stayed out of our border, but it’s a matter of time they start trying to invade us. I’m sure they want to create their own pack invading us and using these lands. So, I’ve teamed up to guard the border, making sure they don’t come in. Physically I was feeling worse, and emotionally I haven’t improved.

I was running like a wolf, sniffing around and paying attention when I started to feel like I was short of breath, so I stopped to catch my breath. I changed to my human form and began to see everything with a blurred black border that was growing. And the last thing I remember is falling slumped to the ground.

Am I…dead?
