Chapter eight: she is beautiful

I went outside to try to calm myself down but I was fuming. This is not the way it was meant to happen. This is not how it works. If an Alpha finds his mate she becomes Luna, and there are no other options. We don’t doubt about the moon goddess will, if she wants us together is for a reason, it’s because is the best for both of us. And she was making everything more complicated because what? For a Beta position? That was ridiculous.

-Want some fire?

I turned around to see who was the dumb guy who didn't realize I was about to lose it. But I calmed myself down when I saw Alpha Parker behind me. I remember the old days when we used to spend the summers together. It was nice to play with someone that weren’t my siblings and we were into the same stuff.

-Thanks. - I said taking the lighter he was offering me to light my cigarette.- Lovely wedding, congratulations.- He chuckled.

-Thanks Kyle, there’s no need. I know you are not having fun.

- The lobster was good.

-Hahaha, I’m glad you liked it.

We stayed quiet, both looking at the stars and the moon. It was actually a pretty decent night.

-You are lucky, you know? She is really special.- It was me who chuckled this time.

-I can tell.

-She is not making it easy, am I wrong?

-No you are not.- I took a long drag.

-She doesn’t want to be a Luna, right?

-Sorry Parker, it’s your wedding, don’t you have better things to do?

-I do, the karaoke is about to start. But here I am, trying to HELP YOU.

I sighed, he is a good man and, I guess, friend.

-It’s not the first time she refuses to be one.- Parker continued.

-What do you mean?

-Before I met my wife and before Alpha Felix died I offered Ely to become my Luna when I became Alpha.- He stopped to look at me- Don’t look at me like that. Everyone is happy she refused.- he said putting his hands up - But her father was really sick, he didn’t have too much time left and I thought Ely would be an amazing Luna. And at that point, I gave up about finding my mate. So, I thought that maybe she wouldn’t mind the age gap and she may find me attractive.

-But she wanted to be a beta, right?

-Definitely. But she didn’t reject me because of that.- he stopped to take another puff.- She said she didn’t want to pair with someone that wasn’t her mate.

We went quiet again. I didn’t know if it was the cigarette or the conversation but I was feeling more relaxed.

-Then I became an Alpha and she applied to be my Beta. I had so many people wanting to be my beta. And I could have chosen my previous beta.

-Why didn’t you?

-Because as an Alpha, I had to think who was the best for my pack, and she was. She still is. Her father always saw the potential in his sons, but especially in Ely. So he prepared her really well.

-I can’t give her the Luna and Beta position. That wouldn’t be fair. And she doesn’t even know my pack.

-I’m not telling you to do so. I’m just letting you know why she is finding it so hard to give it up. – He threw the cigarette to the floor to then step on it.- When she called me to let me know she found you, my first thought wasn’t happy for her. I was worried because I have no clue who can substitute her.

-I wouldn’t worry so quickly…she is not leaving.

- I don’t know Kyle. Fate, destiny…is not something you can avoid so easily.

- I can’t help but think how easy would it be if I weren’t an alpha and she wasn’t a beta.

- Well, that’s not the case. But maybe you should focus on that. Maybe once the bond is stronger the decision is easier to make.

- …- I sighed- She is beautiful.

Alpha parker put a hand on my shoulder, shook me a little bit and smiled at me.

-I need to go back in, stay as long as you want.

-Thanks, I guess I’ll go in too and try to find her.

-I mean here, in my pack.

I stayed a little bit longer. I prepared a dialog in my mind. What to say to her and how to convince her.

I went in and the bride was on top of the table with her bouquet of flowers.

-Okay ladies, are you ready? - she was screaming- Let’s see who gets married next!

A group of girls was waiting with their hands in the air to grab the flowers.

-Here it goes.- said the bride before throwing it. I was trying to find Ely in that group of women.

-OH MY GOD I GOT IT! Look Ely, look!.- Ely’s friend had the bunch of flowers in her hand. That’s when I saw her. She wasn’t with the group of girls. She was standing next to the bar having a drink with her brother.

Eleonor

-I did it!

-Congratulations Sophie. – I said hugging her – I wonder who will be the lucky man.

-Well done Sophie.- Said Liam – I don’t know about Sophie’s, but your lucky man is coming.

I noticed Kyle walking toward us, and I saw him before with Parker outside. So it won’t be any surprise if Parker told him what to say, I remember they used to be friends. But if that's the case I wonder why would he give him advice. Has he already given up on me as his beta?

-Ely? Can we…

-No.- I said looking at him in the eyes. There's is no way I’m going outside to have another conversation in which he is not listening.- I’m having fun right now.

-Maybe later?

-She said no.

-Liam!- Why he doesn’t learn?

- This is a conversation between her and me, OMEGA.

F*ck boys egos. I can’t stand it sometimes. I took a napkin from the bar and wrote my number with a pen I borrowed from the bartender.

-Here, take it. Let’s talk tomorrow. Okay?

-Perfect.- he said folding it and putting it in his pocket.- Enjoy – and after that, he leaned towards me putting a hand on my waist and kissing my cheek softly.

-Thanks. – I was blushing, dam it!- You too.

Kyle left and went back with his family, and I followed every step he took.

-What are you thinking?- Sophie asked.

-I can’t say it with Liam next to me.

-Oh come on! Don’t be shy!

-Sure?

-Sure

-Okay, I was thinking I would give him a million pups.

-OH COME ON ELEANOR!!!

Sophie and I started laughing. He cringed a lot.

-I told you.

-There is no way he is touching my little sister.

-I’m the little one by half an hour.

-It still counts.

-Whatever. But you should stop trying to piss him off.

-Why do you say ‘trying’. I clearly succeed at that.

-I wouldn’t be proud of that. It’s risky.

-What its risky is that you want to give him pups when you haven’t even kissed. We are buying condoms after this wedding.
