Prologue
The rain covers the floors with puddles. Children are walking to school. The sky is clouded. This is where the story begins…
RING!!
The bell announces the start of class time. I walk towards the classroom, lining up. It’s been 3 days of year 2 so far and nothing interesting has happened. Yet. As the people present enter the class a person I’ve not seen before enters before me. I go up the the person. “Hi-have I seen you before?” I say. “I’m new here.” The new student replies and the conversation ends there.
We all put our bags in the rack and sit on the mat to mark the roll. As the teacher calls out our names one by one, the person last on the list is the new student. Once the teacher was finished, she put on an angelic face and asks the new student-Miranda, to come up.
Miranda stand next to the teacher-rather shyly. It’s understandable, I would be too if I were new, but I won’t be going to any other school until after Grade 6. “Form a circle,” says the teacher. Everyone does so, and tried their best to make it even. “This is the new student, Miranda, now tell us Miranda, a little about yourself.” Miranda has a puzzled look. “Like what?” She says. The teacher says-“Start off with saying: My name is Miranda, and then you can say when your birthday is and how old you are and something you like to do, like hobbies and your favourite colour.” Miranda is silent for a split second before saying, “My name is Miranda. I like every colour and I like the smell of freshly mowed grass.”
Now it was time for everyone to introduce themselves. The teachers makes us say our name. As she goes in the order of the circle, at one point it is my turn. “My name is Anthony.” I say. “I like the colour green.”
Then the next, and so on and so on.
After some time, it was done and we began doing some learning. At recess break, of the b*tchy girls showed her around. Then the break comes to an end.
