Chapter 2: Overwhelming Wealth

528 Words
Humans love to brag about their overwhelming wealth. Everyone at school is the same exact way, always bragging about money, and then there's me, who got to this high school for my grades and IQ rather than the money I could pay to get into here, which granted wouldn’t have been that much, but still something. I’m considered a nerd because of how smart I am, and how poor my family is. People say the only reason I got accepted here was due to my overwhelmingly high grades, it’s a good look on the school. We own a family restaurant and barely pay the bills on time, it’s draining my family to bits and pieces throughout the weeks. Thinking back on it Autumn Nakano sounds so much better than Autumn Aurum, sorry for the spiral; that’s just how my head works, I think of one thing after another and can never really stay on one topic for too long without feeling completely uncomfortable, my mom said I got her OCD or ADHD but I personally just think I’m growing up, enjoying conversation. I’m part French and Asian; I have long slick black hair, it’s really thick and people love to pull on it in the halls during passing periods, my style is what you’d find if you mix modern day Wednesday Addams with maybe a baby unicorn, my best friend said it’s prideful alternative which I guess can sum it up pretty well, rainbow goth if you’d rather hear it how most people could view it easily. I don’t actually like this style very much. It's just something I got used to after a while, just being in goth clothing that’s colored rainbow, it’s ironic in my opinion and I think everyone would agree because I get snobby and rude comments all the time. I’m at the top of my geometry class though which is where I am now, second period because homeroom is first period, I don’t get why they do that, making homeroom period one makes no sense to me it’s not a class. I like literacy more than math though, I'm in the advanced literacy classes so I can deal with the geometry class better when I realize I have literacy right after geometry, it’s a nice build up in my opinion. I really hate school life in the social aspect. It doesn't help that there are people who bully me everywhere around school, it makes it hard to focus on my schoolwork when I get paper balls thrown at me and people are yelling racist slurs across the classroom. People don’t like me, which is why I’m a little bit suspicious about this party invite I just got for a back to school party, hosted by none other than Zach Sanitas, he’s definitely one if not the most popular Jock, he’s dating Skye Nakano the preppy cheerleader, no surprise there it’s kind of clique in a way, most people expected it and then there's people who think it’s a publicity stunt for their reputations. Either way I’m definitely going, I’ve never been to a party and it’ll be fun to skip over family dinner.
