Chapter 4: Foreign Territory

322 Words
I’m not crazy for caring, right? About my grades, I mean, I’m in high school and it’s important, everyone thinks of me as a nerd because of the fact that I’m an honors student. I have impeccable grades and I have nothing to worry about in terms of college options. I think my parents are proud. I don’t have to worry about buying myself into college either, I have a lot of full-ride scholarship options for my intelligence. I've been told they’re being saved for me next year. Yale is my dream college and they’ve never accepted anyone under a 4.0 GPA, and I would be able to go there if I wanted to. Parties are something foreign to me. I'm never invited to them. No one ever thought about inviting me, but the lead cheerleader invited the whole school to her party, which included me apparently. Now I wouldn’t waste my time on high school parties normally, but this one was special, because Bruno was going to be there. I wanted to see him, to get a hug again. I missed him a lot, he always had a way of making me smile and I was excited to talk to him again. People in our school don’t host many parties for stupid reasons. It’s normally a celebration, but in this case Skye and Zach were hosting the party at his house just to have a party, and Skye claimed it as her own party even though her boyfriend was hosting it. I have never had a boyfriend before, so I don’t know how it works, but I’m 99.9% sure that normally whatever house it’s at, is who’s hosting the party. But that’s besides the point. I finally got invited to a party and I get to go shopping for clothes online, so that’s what I did. I surfed the internet until I found a dress worthy of a popular kids' party.
