Cassie should have known it was only a matter of time. The campus had been buzzing since morning. Whispers followed her down the hallways. Phones were lifted a little too quickly whenever she passed. Even some lecturers looked at her differently now, their eyes lingering with curiosity they didn’t bother to hide. She kept her head down, hoodie pulled up, bodyguard Jake walking a few steps behind her like a shadow. She hated that part the most. The reminder that her life was no longer hers alone.
