Meeting Kael
ARIA'S POV
It was a wet and gloomy day.
I walked frantically on the road as the cars were forced to skid to a halt to avoid homicide. I had finally escaped from my cruel boss who had turned me into a rag.
Thanks to his impotence, he would have turned me into a s*x slave.
I ran till I was out of breath. Of course, I was only running to where God knows. Startled looks and concerned expressions greeted me on all sides. My clothes were torn all-over; I won't be surprised if they think I'm crazy.
I didn't stop running until I strode away, where all eyes were off me. The place was quiet and no one was around to scold me even though I felt my cruel boss's eyeballs were still boring at me.
Accidentally, my foot skidded on the wet floor, and I almost fell when a strong hand grabbed my arm. I was lost in his dark blue piercing eyeballs, when his well-built abs attracted my view as it tried to fight itself out through the tight shirt he was wearing.
Have seen this face before, I'm so sure of that. But when, where?
I traced his piercing blue eyes which were gazing below me, then I realized my skimpy skirt which was already tattered had given him full access to my thigh.
"I am Kael Ryker." His voice was so thick, it sent some memories flooding into my mind. I know he was always in my dreams until I was eighteen. My mate! I didn't know when I fell from his stronghold.
"What do you want from me?" I asked meekly. Even though I knew he was my mate back then, I knew he would never accept me as his mate. The future Alpha of the Nightshade pack choosing me, a mere Omega, an orphan to be precise as his Luna. Trash! Lucid dreams!
He went on his knees and stretched forth his hand for me to grab. I flinched, the memory of my boss lurching towards me flashed through my mind. I felt a sharp pain in the stomach and it radiated all-over my body.
"You need help direly. Let's get you out of here." He coaxed, but grabbing his hand was the last thing on my mind.
"Get out of here! Get out!" I suddenly let out a screech. Guess it had no effect on him.
"I didn't expect you to be easy on me." His hands were huge and calloused, but impossibly gentle. "Calm down," His voice was a low purr in my ear. "You're gonna be alright." Warmth surrounded me as Kael bundled me into his arms, though I cannot explain it or even begin to understand it, I do feel calmer somehow.
Great thing he was here for me, because I couldn't make my limbs work again. My eyelids felt heavy again, and all I wanted was to curdle into the pillowy muscles that surrounded me.
As if sneaking into my mind, Kael tucks his fur coat around my frail body a little bit more tightly, taking up a comfortable rumble that vibrates against my cheek. "Sleep, little wolf. Danger is far from you."
I managed to force my eyelids open until he dropped me gently like an egg on his car seat, at the back. He covered me with his fur coat and pecked my lips.
My body system went on fritz as he ignited the engine and drove off.
========
I jerk awake, jolting to a sitting position in an unfamiliar bed. It took a moment for my nerves to catch up with my head, but I wasn't able to clarify where I was.
The room - a large suite decorated in muted colors, is far too bright. It made my eyes blurry, I could hardly identify an object.
The fine hair on the back of my neck stood at attention as I saw a figure in front of me. I wouldn't have recognized him if not for his unforgettable scene that mixed with the sweet coffee smell and sent an attack to my empty stomach.
I could have sworn Kael could read my mind when he turned and said, "Hungry? Food is almost ready." I sat up while holding my stomach, and rested against the wall.
He had brewed some coffee a bit earlier. No wonder the scent mixed with that of Kael's body. He sat in the opposite direction from me as he handed a cup of coffee to me. I was still on the bed while he sat on a wooden stool.
The last time I drank coffee was when I brewed it for my boss, and I was tempted to taste it even though I knew more than anyone that it was forbidden. I had to sleep in an ex-pig house!
I took a big slurp of the ultra strong coffee and winced as it singed the roof of my mouth.
Suddenly, the coffee began to cloy as I couldn't stomach it anymore. But I'm not really sure if it was really the coffee, or the closeness between me and Kael.
I seemed excited about this development, the next Alpha of this great pack accepts me as his mate, and I get to be a Luna. Me, a mere Omega, gets to be honored this way.
Suddenly, the future didn't look so gloomy after all. A tear escaped down my cheek.
He had already served both of us when a knock broke on the door. It wasn't like I was going to get it, but he still signaled to me to rest while he got it. I feel uneasy, though I don't know why.
The door was opened, and a beautiful lady came in. She was a bit taller than I was and I guess a bit older too. From the way she was dressed, clarified that she wasn't a maid. From the rumors, I think she is Lyra Snow. Kael's girlfriend.
He gave her a hug and pecked her cheek. 'It was just a hug and a peck.' I didn't really know why I had to say that to myself.
As if to torment me, she laid her head on his chest. The chest I thought would only be mine forever. I clenched my fist beneath the bed cover, fighting to keep my composure.
I had never fallen in love with anyone, so this was the first time I found myself battling with the spirit of jealousy which was too strong to keep off. It got worse when she cupped his cheek in her hands as if they were not together all this while.
The pain, the hurt... And the fact that she was not his mate was more terrifying than watching them staring at each other with compassion filled in their eyes.
"Can you please excuse us for a while?" Lyra asked politely, but it could never sound polite to me. It was like a needle stabbing my heart because I didn't know whether to obey her, since I was not trying to incur Kael's wrath. I stood stagnant, glaring at Kael to make a decision.
"Lyra, she's not those slaves or maid you bark at. She's my mate!" He bolted, almost getting angry. My facial muscles relaxed instantly, and the deeper frown lines left my forehead.
The feeling of a champion. I was beginning to float in the air as I could not explain her disgusting facial expression. She glared at me, and I knew instantly that I was in trouble.
"Kael, you can't just abandon me because of your mate. I've been with you for almost half of your whole life!" I held my breath as she ranted, staring at her to see her reaction. She wrinkled her nose in disgust.
Kael furrowed his brow in concern as he turned to me. "Is something wrong, my dear?" He asked, his tone laced with worry.
I almost blushed.
"You think you can just come out of nowhere and try to snatch him away from me? You must be joking. He will dump you once he gets a taste of your honeypot!" I thought that was all as she turned to go, but she turned back with scary eyes, "I'll throw you in the pit of hell myself once I'm done with you!" She growled. And she barged out.
I wasn't really scared of her, but her coercing me to leave her boyfriend, who was about to be her ex, in a house where I knew nothing about. Kael might not be able to come to my rescue every time.
Noticing how worried I was, Kael wrapped his arms fully around my body. "Don't worry about her words. She's just being driven by jealousy." He tried to make me feel relieved, but his words were not getting anywhere near my skull.
I was still deep in thinking about every word Lyra had said. Yeah, there's no way she would back out without a fight. If I was in her position, I would do more than just bark, unlike her. But her barking bored itself into my head; breaking the weak defense of my skull.
'Would Kael dump me after trying me out once? Lyra would surely throw me in the pit of hell if Kael really dumped me.'
