Nishika’s POV. Pulling my hand out of his, my hand raised in an instinct but I stopped before slapping him. “I won’t stop next time. Don’t ever use your physical strength on me like that. I won’t take it” I snapped at him with my eyes flashing in anger. My voice barely above level as I did not want others to hear it. He moved back. “I am sorry. It was not intentional.” He apologized. I looked away from him and created some distance between us. He also moved back. I had no words to express how I am feeling right now. Once I felt that I have controlled my anger only then did I decide to walk out of there. “Sometimes you should know when you are crossing your limits. You should know when to step back” with that said, I walked out of the library. This time around, he did not follow me nor did he stop me. I was thankful. I don’t know how I will be able to cope with his continuous persistence to take me out. I am not ready for anything at present. My only hope is that he realizes soon enough. Shaam uncle was already waiting for me outside. “I am sorry uncle. I had to submit the assignment” I partly lied to him. He nods at me. “It is Okay Nishu Beta. This is my work so I don’t mind” he says to me with a small smile. I smiled back. After that I got in the car and he starts the car. We reach fifteen minutes later. “From tomorrow pick me up at three in the afternoon. I will be having Accountancy classes.” I inform him beforehand only. He nods at me. Entering the living room, I find mom was sitting on one of the sofas. Bhai was nowhere to be seen. “Good evening Maasa” I greet her with a back hug from behind the sofa. “Good evening Nishu” go and get fresh. Tea and pakora are ready” Maasa informs me. I will be right back” with that said I go to my room to get fresh. I lied down on the bed once I have changed and got fresh. My eyes drooped and sleep look over my senses. My brows furrowed when I felt a ticket on my ear. I scratched my ear and tried to find a comfortable position, when I felt it once again. My ears perked up when I heard a slight movement beside me. Knowing it is bhai, I whined “Bhai, stop it. I am tired.” “Get up. Its dinner time” I sprang up immediately. “When I slept for two and half hours?” I asked as looked at the time. It was seven thirty in the evening. “It is dinner time” I murmured as I got up. “That’s what I said” he pointed out with a grin. “Not funny. Go and wait at the dinner table. I will be right back.” I informed him and went to get fresh. “Don’t be late” with that said he walks out. I washed my face and went downstairs once I felt fresh. Mom and Bhai along with Shaam uncle and Shamita aunty were waiting at the dining table. “I am sorry, I am late” I apologized as I took my seat. “It’s okay” Maasa nods at me. “What have you prepared today?” I inquire as I checked the dishes laid out on the dining table. “We have made Wada Sambhar and Pav bhaji” says Maasa. “Yum” I lick my licks. We finish the dinner while having slight conversation. Shaam uncle and Shamita aunty retired for the night once they had put away all the dishes. Right now, it is only me, Maasa and Bhai in the living room. Bhai was sitting opposite me an Maasa. “So, what actually happened today at college?” Bhai was the one to start the conversation. “Nothing happened. Except for the fact that there is a group in our class who bully the weak or silent ones. As I am a new bee, they are trying to pick on me. but I am not giving them the chance.” It was not a total lie; it is not right to bring up Nishant when he has not done something like threatening me. I will only inform Bhai if things get out of hand. For now, I can handle his small tricks and also make him learn a lesson. “You will tell us if things get out of hand?” asks bhai with a serious expression on his face. “Chill bhai, I am strong enough to manage their silly tricks.” I assure him. “That’s like my girl” says Maasa as she pulls me closer to her with a proud grin on my face. I chuckle at that reaction and hug my Maasa sideways. “I learn from the best” I murmured as I moved back. “Don’t take it to your head now” intervened bhai. “Jealous, are we?” I grinned at him with a mischievous wriggle of brows.  “who, I?” “and that too, of you?” he asks with his eyebrows raised. “You are jealous that Maasa loves me more” I teased him. “I am Masa’s favourite. Isn’t it Maasa?” he deliberately pulls Maasa in the conversation. “You both are my favorite children” says Maasa instead and I let out chuckle. “Maasa that’s not fair you have to pick one” he whined “stop being a baby” I was enjoying teasing him. “I am not, shorty” he retorted. “Grow up” I scowled at him to which he laughed. “Stop it both of you. Now go and take some rest. Also, tomorrow we will be having your dad’s paternal aunt over for dinner. Both behave properly” says Maasa in her strict tone which she uses when she wants us to take her seriously. “Okay Maasa” I nod at her and so does bhai. It was already past nine in the evening I decided to go for my room and prepare for tomorrows theory class. “Good night bhai, Maasa. I will go to my room now. I need to check my assignment and prepare for the class” I inform them. “Okay good night. Don’t stay awake for too late” says Maasa to me and I nod at her. “I won’t” with that said I went to my room and started preparing for tomorrow class as the first class is accountancy itself. I was almost done when my cellphone rang. Checking it, I find Varsha calling. “Hey” I greet her as I closed my book after I was prepared “Nishika what are you doing?’ “I was preparing for the accountancy class as it is the second period tomorrow” I inform her. “oh, okay. So, how did it go?” she asks with curiosity in her voice. I knew what she wanted to know but pretended to not know. I liked teasing her  “how did it go means?” I questioned back pretending as if I am confused. “Your assignment” she hinted. A smile appeared on my lips as I decided to tease her little more.  “Assignment went well. Vrushali Maasa had given us the instruction and it was easy” I replied. “Oh”. there was pause on the other end. Maybe she is thinking of ways to get it out of me but does not know how. “So, did you have dinner?” I ask her. “I had long back. What about you?” she asks. “Same here. What are you doing so late? It is past ten p m in the evening?” I ask in my strict voice. “Uh… Ah… I wanted to know how it went with Nishant” she blurted out. “Hmmm. Curiosity killed the cat. You could not have waited till tomorrow?” I smirked inwardly. “Now don’t dodge the question and tell me already” I could imagine her excitement level. “We went for lunch to Sanman hotel. He was quite persistent” I mumbled into the phone knowing what her reaction would be, I put the cellphone away from my ear. Her screech was so loud I am sure her parents could hear her if they are close by. “What?” how come that happened?” She fired question after questions at me, without even giving me a single minute to reply. “Tell me how come you even agreed to go on lunch him?” she was quite shocked by her reaction. “Let me first reply at the very least” I replied and there was silent on the other end. “That’s better. Now listen, I only went with him for lunch because I wanted to know his intention towards me and why he was so persistent?” “Looks like your curiosity peaked all the more” I replied in a dry tone “Now continue, you can tease me later for my natural curious behavior” she says I chuckle at her reply and impatience to know about things. “He is serious about liking me and wanting to date me. He wants to take me out but I am not ready for any of those things” I murmured as I put all my books away and lied down on the bed. “What was your reply to that?” she inquires. “I told him that at the end it will still depend on me if whether I want to go with him or not. He took it as a challenge” I explained her the conversation “oh, Nishika he can he can be very persistent”, she says in her worried tone. I knew about that.     “I know that Varsha. I have also told him that he can try with all his tricks, at the end it will be mine decision” I say to her. She took her time replying. “But what if he will make you like him with his charms and tricks?” “I am confident that I won’t fall for his tricks. I forgot to tell you something” I murmured quietly. “What is it?” “Tell soon, otherwise I will die in anticipation” she says impatiently. I chuckle at her over excitement. So, I tell her how I acted in the restaurant and embarrassed myself. I explained how I made a fool out of myself in front of him. Once I was done explaining, as expected Varsha also started laughing at my expense. “Stop it” I pouted, which she can obviously not see. “Why did you have to with him in the first place?” she asked me once she had controlled her laughter. “I went because I wanted to find out the reason as to why he is following me?” “Even though he said that he likes me, I don’t know why I am not able to believe him. I feel that he does not cope well with rejection. That is why he is so persistent. I still feel his intention towards me are not right” I tell her about my feelings. “I just don’t know but I have this sense, I hope I am wrong if he truly his intentions are right” I added as an afterthought. “You over think things Nishika. Just let them come to you in the natural way. If he is good enough to be with you, he will definitely be there in a longer run. If not, it was not meant to be. Just go with the flow and don’t over stress yourself” she tries to pacify with her mature words which I did not expect from her. “Easy for you to say. By the way, from when did you become so mature?” I ask her in a teasing tone. “I am always mature. I don’t show it” she says with a serious tone. There was silence on the other end. After that both of us started laughing. “Nishu beta?” I hear Maasa calling out for me from outside my room. “Varsha, I got to go. Maasa is calling me” I inform her. “Listen Nishika, I have to tell you something.” She starts. “What?” I ask distractedly as Maasa enters the room. I put the phone away for some time. “What happened Maasa?” I inquired curiously. “Nothing, Nishu beta. I came to give you the water bottle” she says. She knows that at night I wake thirsty and does not want me to go downstairs in my sleepy state. “Thank you Maasa. It had skipped my mind” I give Maasa a sheepish look. She gives me an understanding nod. “Its okay. That is why I brought it for you” she places the water bottle on the bedside table. “Were you on a call?” she asks me. “Yes, with Varsha” I show her my cellphone. “Okay don’t stay too late and sleep early” with that said, Maasa wishes me good night and walks out of the room. “Hello Varsha?” I call out to her. “Yeah” I heard her sleepy voice. Thinking that she is sleepy, I wished her good night and cut the call.  Lying down on the bed, I was going through my i********:, when a w******p message appeared in the notifications. Confused, I check it as it was an unknown number. I don’t know who it was messaging at this hour of the time. I check it and see it was simple hello. As the number was not saved, there was no display pic showing. So, I deleted it as I don’t reply to unknown numbers. After a few seconds another message popped up on the screen. “Hi Nishika, you there?” said the message. Now that got my attention. I don’t know who it is but they know me as they have messaged me by my name. “yeah, who is it?” I message back. “Guess?” was the instant reply. “Either you reply or stop messaging me” I reply back. “Fiery as always” came the reply. Ignoring the message, I delete as I was feeling sleepy. After five minutes or so, again a message came. “hey its me” said the message. “I am don’t have any super natural powers to guess you. Either you say your name or else get lost” I typed back. “Why do you always het this hyper?” came the reply and my eyes widened in realization. How the hell did he get my number was my thought before my phone started ringing. I let out a frustrated groan.
