Chapter 42 – The Testament
Jerry's consciousness returned, and the sound of voices grew steadily louder. He opened his eyes.
He was in a hospital room. A tube was plugged into his right arm, delivering some sort of fluid. He grimaced at that, but he was used to it by now. And it was probably the only thing keeping him alive.
A crowd of people stood around his bed, staring at him with mixed emotions. Several of them had orange faces, and Jerry experienced a moment of panic. Images from the Claim War flooded into his mind as they often did when he was surprised by Felids.
As usual, he reminded himself that the Claim War was over. The Felids weren't the enemy. His panic subsided.
