Chapter 26 – Exposure Jerry had somehow gotten separated from his platoon, and now he was on the opposite side of the wrecked ship fighting a lone Reliant by himself. There was debris everywhere, and it was all slick from the rain, making for treacherous footing. He would try to work his way back around to his platoon once he dealt with the Reliant in front of him. This one was tough, though. He thrust his sword at the man but missed. The rain and wind and his own exhaustion conspired to make him clumsy. The Reliant was armed with a rifle and bayonet, just like the others from the ship. Jerry had already hacked away the bayonet and several inches of the gun. Nevertheless, the Reliant kept up the attack, wielding what remained of his rifle as a club.
