Chapter 25 – The Factory
Jerry sprinted for the open factory door. The other men were ahead of him, and they were all almost inside.
The Reliant warship fired its plasma cannons.
Jerry ran harder. The bolts slammed into the street behind him, blasting craters in the pavement and sending chunks of dirt and concrete flying.
Sergeant Gage stood at the door, holding it and urging him to run faster.
Jerry's legs felt like they were on fire, but he didn't slow down. Another set of booms echoed in the city as the ship fired a second burst at him.
He leaped into the air and dove through the door.
A bolt struck the sidewalk just feet away, showering him with debris from the shattered concrete. A billow of dust, smoke, and gravel followed him inside the factory.
