When the doctor tells Becca that it’s time to start pushing, I can see the frightened expression on her face. I know she’s scared right now but she has to do this.
Becca has been pushing for an hour and the baby hasn’t even started crowning yet. I can see how tired she is, but if she gets through this now she can rest afterward. I wish I could do this for her, she’s so exhausted and in so much pain, I want to take her pain away.
"You can do this baby, don't give up", I tell her when I see that she's going to give up.
"I can't do this anymore", she says. "I can't, it's too hard".
I feel so sorry for Becca, her voice is so weak, and I can see how tired she is. Poor Becca. I didn’t even know that births can take this long, apparently, they can.
