Suddenly being pulled with force to Tristen’s chest, caused my body to purr in response. His arms wove protectively around me, allowing no room for struggle or escape. A growl echoed through the bathroom, the vibrations of it reverberating through his chest against my back.
“What the hell Tristen, calm down! I was only helping her with a towel, she fell.”
Before his sister could speak again, I felt him distance himself from my body. Realisation hit me when he pressed my front gently against the cold tiles as his searing hot fingers trailed down the path of my back. Having seen my scar yesterday for the first time ever, even I was a little shocked at the size of it. It had obviously healed while I was a wolf, I didn’t even know that was possible.
“Holy s**t!”, yet again Bec’s voice sounded as her feet slapped at the tiles moving towards us.
“Get out Bec.” Hearing the edge in Tristan’s voice, even I could feel the aura of the room become suffocating. His intensity almost burnt at the oxygen as his grip tightened.
Shuffling towards the door of the bathroom, Bec appeared to hesitate as she paused in the doorway. Holding her position for a few seconds, I thought she would say something. However, she just audibly sighed before exiting the space and then bedroom, the door closing with an almost silent thud.
Tristen’s burning fingers once again started moving again tracing the scar, up, down and to the side. “This wasn’t stitched, how did you survive?” His voice and body shook as if he was frightened of the answer.
“Changed to wolf for long time. First I have seen..” Pausing I tried to fix my wording, “saw it yesterday for first time.” Turning around, he allowed my movement as I shuffled closer still leaning into his body stretching my arms around him. Closer, I wanted to be closer, his warmth made me happy, it made me feel safe. Realizing in that second that I hadn’t felt that way in a long time. It was always me protecting the pack, now I had someone who would protect me. The thought left me with a feeling of warmth which ran through my body clenching my heart.
“How long?” His voice seemed hesitant, almost like he was not sure if he wanted to know the answer. Looking up, I pressed my chin to his chest smiling while shaking my head and lifting my shoulders indicating the fact that I didn’t know. Lowering his head Tristen’s lips fell to my own, lightly pressing down before running his tongue across the seam of my lips. Sparks shot through me, desperately wanting more contact. A towel was once again was wrapped around my body, covering my bare skin. His hands running up and down my shoulders to elbows rubbing me, warming me, comforting me.
“Ceremony now, talk … later.” Talking now was not what I wanted, he appeared to be losing control, while I was getting so tired already. Being in human form was difficult, my throat seared like a fire stick had been shoved down it. It felt dry and sore like the rest of my body.
Responding with his body, he completely surrounded me. “Flicka,” his name for me resonated loudly through the bathroom bouncing off the tiles from his deep voice. Breathing heavily, he slightly loosened his grip speaking at the level of a whisper, “as you wish.”
“Ask,” Autumn prompted in my mind again. I had been ignoring her for a while, apparently she was losing her patients. As her frustration grew so did her volume, “ask!” Wincing at the yelling in my mind, Tristen’s hand drift to my chin lifting it once more so he could see into my eyes.
“What’s wrong, are you in pain?” His hand floated to my cheek caressing my face gently stroking. Unable to resist, I leant into the touch, Autumn purred in my mind, relishing in the contact.
Unsure if I would be allowed to, especially after how I was brought in, I still wanted to ask. “I want to change, I want.. run.” I said it, I got it out and it was true. I would kill to be a wolf again, if only for a little while, but I didn’t know how Tristen would react. Remembering the pain of phasing, I shifted uncomfortably in his arms awaiting a response.
Surprisingly enough, a smile graced his lips. “Let’s go tonight after the ceremony, we will go for a run together.” Together, I would get to see his wolf as well, the thought alone was overwhelming. What would he look like, how powerful would he be? I had seen many wolves, fought many wolves, but I had no doubt he would be different. He was mine!
Placing a final kiss to my forehead, before turning to leave. “I will send Rebecca back in to help you get ready. I will see you soon, at the ceremony.” He was leaving me again! That’s all he had been doing since I woke up, leaving me. A growl surfaced in my chest as I tightened my grip on the waist band of his pants. I didn’t understand why he constantly left, he should stay with me, I needed him, I wanted him.
This place was strange, I guess it must have been similar to the pack I grew up in, but not the same as the wolves I grew up with. We were together all the time, here I had been through more rooms and seen more people then I could count. I was constantly moving, being challenged, confused and weak. This body was so weak and draining. I needed to use it, to train it, but even walking was still difficult.
Returning to my side in an instant, his hands wrapped around my body resting on the small of my back. “Flicka, I need to get some work done tonight, so I can have you all to myself. No interruptions.” Before I had time to process or respond, his mouth dropped to my neck lightly sucking on mark he had left me. My whole body almost convulsed at the pleasurable sensation, it was overwhelming. My eyes closed in surrender, as a squeak of shock and pure happiness left me.
