Chapter 30 - Icksy

1047 Words
Fiona It was like I was plastered to the floor. Stuck in place, like my feet were planted in a slab concrete. At the thought of finding Flower I had been so excited and overjoyed to the point that my chest hurt. It felt painful, but I could push through it to get her back by my side. To have her back in my life. Then I saw him, Icksy. Did he know it was me? Was he mad at me? He never got angry at me before. He… he, I could not explain these emotions running through my body. I could not remember having this much difficultly when I was younger and a human. These feelings moving through my body were paralysing. Once again, I found tears running down my face that was still hard against Tristen’s back, my hands gripping into his now wet shirt like it was a lifeline. Tristen and Icksy were yelling at each other, their aggression spilling into the air like poison. I could not even take in their words when they spoke, it was like white noise. All I could hear was the sound of Icksy’s voice, it was like going back to the past, to a distant memory or dream. Remembering all the times when our family was together, when we were happy pulled at the strings of my heart. Pulled back to the present, Tristen’s whole body vibrated with rage. I could feel as his body start to heat beneath my fingers as his chest heaved in the air like an animal. If this continued Tristen was going to lose control, he would shift back into a wolf. Looking back to the house after a door slammed, I watched as Erica stood there watching the scene. A smile breaking on her face, she started towards us. Not understanding what she was so happy about, or why she was still here, I tried to ignore her presence. I had claimed the position of Luna over her, and from what Bec had told me, she was not even part of this pack. Pulling out of Tristen’s hands which were holding me behind him tightly, I realised he was not vibrating at all. It was me, I was shaking. I was shaking worse than a leaf in the wind, trembling like a pup in the face of danger. Stepping around Tristen I was face to face with Icksy. The yelling between the two stopped immediately as Icksy’s rage filled eyes dropped to my own. Icksy’s eyes turned to glass in seconds, he dropped to his knees with somewhat of a blank expression covering his features. He used to do that as well, drop to his knees in front of me. Though back then he wore a smile on his face as he laughed, his arms open for me to run into. Now he just looked broken, tired and worn. Silence swept across the field as his arms draped to his sides. Looking defeated he whispered, “Aisha.” My mothers name left his lips. Erica approaching closer still walked to Icksy’s side, the smirk still plastered to her face. Tristen’s hands dropped to my shoulders before crisscrossing over the front of my body pulling me back protectively into his heated chest. I felt a smile spread across my face as I once again continued my eye contact with Icksy. Sinking back into Tristen’s embrace I felt one of his hands move to my face wiping at my tears still falling uncontrollably. His voice in my ear, “it is okay Flicka, why are you crying?” “That is her Larix, the shewolf that attacked me. A vicious rogue, a danger to the whole pack.” Erica’s voice rang loudly overshadowed almost immediately as the Earth almost felt like it shook. Growls sounded from both behind and in front of me, as Icksy and Tristen let loose before snapping their eyes to each other. Tristen holding me tighter than ever lowered his face into my neck pressing his lips to my skin. He sent fireworks through my body before releasing me, once again pushing me behind him as he made a move for Erica. A hand jutting out, I witnessed as he held her in the air by her throat. Looking around, all faces were on Icksy, as if he would say or do something. His eyes remained on me as I moved towards him. Closer and closer, I continued walking forward. “Icksy.” My voice came out shallow and hesitant as I took yet another step in his direction. Standing less than a foot away from Icksy, he continued to watch me, like he was seeing a ghost. Tristen must have turned to see me as I heard his voice boom through the air. I felt him move towards me as a thud sounded, my only thoughts that he dropped Erica to the floor in a heap. “Fiona.” Icksy’s voice sounded as his hand reached out gripping my wrist, ripping me to his chest in an instant. The tears flowing from my eyes grew heavier as I latched onto him. My nails digging into the flesh of his chest. A sob escaping my throat, I could not control the wave of pain hitting my chest, causing more sobs to follow. Feeling his hand rise to my head he held me close to his body just like when I was little. I could sense Tristen only feet away, but making no move to take me. His grip tightening around me, I snuggled further into Icksy’s embrace as I felt a tear of his drip onto my cheek. Just like that, we were reunited. Just like that, I was no longer alone in the world. I found my mate, my best friend and my uncle. I found my family.
