Chapter 4 - Protect them

1070 Words
A puppy ran out the cave headed straight for her. Fee turned slightly to usher the pup back to safety blocking its view from the intruders. That one second in lack of concentration was all it took. Adam moved supernaturally fast shoving the injection into Fee’s shoulder. A roar left Fee chest as her eyes widened in horror looking at the needle in her placed by the man who stated he wouldn’t hurt her. Adam backed up a few steps as the rogue looked back into his eyes, with a look of betrayal and fear. A series of whines started leaving it’s body. “Adam.., why hasn’t it phased back yet?” Panic now blanketed Adam’s face. What had he done, something was wrong. The wolf in front of him shook and convulsed. Another roar left Fee, she turned to look to the cave beckoning her family out. Shadow sprinted to her side whining as he rubbed against her. A growl left her chest, he snarled back at her before turning to the rest of the pack exiting the cave. They all looked to Fee, before running off into the woods. Safe they were safe, none of the wolves in this group followed them. She was contented now giving into whatever this force was trying to do to her body. Pain filled her as heat pulsed through her. Cracking sounded, she was phasing back. Adam watched as the rogue whined in pain as its bones broke and cracked reshaping its body to her original state. Just like that, only a moment and she had changed to a human her body after seven year. Tremors shook through her as the memories came flooding back, her mother, father, Lilly, her pack. Fee lay on the ground naked and trembling. The pain had stopped physically, but emotionally it had only just hit her. Her tiny weak human body which had not surfaced in years shook uncontrollably. Adam rushed to her side pulling her into his arms. Fee looked at her shaking paws, no not paws hands she thought. A scream ripped through the forest from her tiny frame. As tears flowed down her face. Adam’s heart felt like it had been jolted with electricity, the rogue was a girl. A tiny, little weak girl. She was in no way healthy. She was skin and bones. She didn’t appear to have any muscle yet her wolf was so strong. Her naked body had some deep clawing scars that ran the length of her back, meaning she got the scar prior to shifting as all wolves could not obtain scars after their first shift. Thinking about a 14 year old being hurt so badly made Adam wince. The scars proved she had been in some kind of accident or battle the last time she was in human form. Patrick had shifted to human form, “this rogue is dangerous man, we should kill it, it can’t be around the pack.” Bec yelled out agreeing. Adam turned around his eyes completely darkened with anger. He was almost borderline shifting as Patrick approached laying eyes on what he also expected to be a large male rogue. A threating growl left Adam’s throat as he pulled his shirt over his head covering her with it. Protectively he scooped up the little girl in his arms as he ran towards the pack house. He periodically looked down at the girl, her Silver hair flew wildly behind them as he continued forward. Her skin was so pale like it had never seen the sun. Her legs and arms had near no muscle to them, like they had never been used. Her skin occasionally rippled like it was trying to shift back to wolf form but was repelled by some invisible force. ************ Beta Adam Pov The pack doctor and nurses surrounded the girl on the hospital bed. Anger washed through my body as I jutted a fist out into the wall leaving a gaping hole. What the f**k was I going to do, Tristen would be back tomorrow, once he found out she hurt Bec…. He’d want to kill her. I don’t know why but this girl was important, I had to protect her. Patrick rounded the corner coming into vision, “I’m sorry Beta I didn’t realize the rogue was a girl and she was your mate, but you saw her. She dangerous.” A smile graced my face, yes I can say she is my mate that will give me time to get her somewhere safe. I had an uneasy feeling about it, but this was the simplest way to stop Tristen when he arrived tomorrow. Patrick had already kind of changed his tone, this could work. I knew this girl was not my mate, but she was definitely important to me, to the pack. I just didn’t know how. I walked up to Patrick grabbing him around the throat slamming him to the wall staring directly into his eyes. “She was protecting a pack of wolves, little cubs and you threatened them and her territory. What the f**k did you think would happen? What if I threatened your family with a pack of wolves?” Well that was mate like.. I guess, I would easily keep up this charade. I dropped Patrick to the floor. He gasped for air holding out his arms, “sorry, I’m sorry”. Smiling in my head this was going to be a piece of cake, I walked into the girl’s hospital room as the Doctor greeted me. “Beta Adam”, the Doctor bowed his head in respect. “She can go now, she is just weak and malnourished. I want to see her back next week, start trying to get her to gain some weight. Emotionally she might just need some time, she doesn’t seem to talk.” I nodded quickly before moving towards the bed.
