Accident
A man was driving on the highway, his eyes on the road but his attention was also divided as he was on a call at the same time. "Yes, I'll be back in two days. You don't have to worry about me. I'm sorry I had to leave abruptly…" He tried to focus on the road but he was simply too occupied trying to console the person on the other end of the call. For a moment, he took his eyes off the road and didn't notice a speeding truck approaching behind him. In the last second, he raised his head and saw the truck but it was too late. The truck slammed into the car, and the impact caused the car to skid across the road… a few seconds later, there was a loud explosion…. followed by a fire. *** About an hour ago: Aurora shared a kiss with the man beside her, the smile on her face was radiant, some eyewitnesses' eyes were drawn to the newlyweds in front of the courthouse. "We are finally married, happy now?" The man caressed her cheeks with a loving expression on his face. "Mhm, I'm happy now," She responded, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "We have to go see my father, and it's time we go visit your mother too." A conflicted expression flashed on the man's face. "About my mother-" "Even though you might not be on good terms with her, I would still like to meet her," she interrupted him. "What about our honeymoon-" The sound of a phone ringing cuts her words midway, it was the man's phone. As he checked the caller ID, a frown flashed on his face. When he answered the call, he replied with one word sentences before he ended the call. "You have to go?" Aurora inquired, the smile on her face dropped. "I'm sorry." The man gave her an apologetic smile, holding her hands in his. "But it's our wedding day, you should have taken a day off." She was not backing down easily, as this wasn't the first time their time spent together was interrupted. "I'm sorry, but work is very important-" The man tried to convince her. "I promise make it up to you." Aurora was upset but she could hear the urgency in his voice. "How long would you be gone?" Her now-husband rarely spent a lot of time with her because he was always distracted with work. Apparently, his work was very important to him but Aurora could not hold it against him. "Just two days. Then I'll take a leave." Aurora nodded, pulling her hands from his. "You should go," She nudged him forward. "I'll call you." The man immediately flagged down a taxi, without giving her a backward glance, he entered the car. Aurora stared at the taxi until it went out of sight with a forced smile on her face, words could not describe how happy she was feeling but there was a bit of sourness in her… why? Her husband had to go on a trip immediately after they got the certificate, irrespective of that, she was quite satisfied. She also flagged down a taxi and was on her way home when she received a call. Glancing at the screen, 'Hermana' was displayed on the caller ID. "Hello Indi…" She answered the call with a cheerful tone but the caller on the other end was in tears, thus stunning Aurora. "What happened?" "It's Dad, you have to come to the hospital." Her sister, Indigo's voice was shaky on the other end of the call. Aurora's face paled in an instant and the happiness within her was completely doused. "What happened? Is he alright?" She clutched the marriage certificate in her hand a bit tighter. "He had a relapse, his condition is getting worse, Aurora, he passed out in the living room. Luckily I found him in time, I don't know what would have happened." "Calm down." Aurora addressed the taxi driver, changing the location to that of the hospital. "I'm on my way. Get a grip on your emotions." Aurora tried to reassure her younger sister but on the inside, she was feeling panicked. "I'm sorry for burdening you right now-" "It's nothing, I'm on my way." Aurora reassured her before ending the call. Moments later, she arrived in the hospital, a young woman rushed towards Aurora and hugged her. The woman was a younger version of Aurora with a petite frame of 5 '5, dark hair with some locks dyed purple, piercings on her ears and lips, dark mascara that was smudged from tears and purple gloss. It was Indigo, Aurora's younger sister, her eyes were already red and her cheeks were stained with tears. The two sisters hugged each other, no words shared between them as they tried to find some comfort in the embrace of the other. After a while, the two sisters separated, Aurora wiped the tears on her sister's face. "I'm here now. You should stop crying or no one would want to marry you." They started to walk towards the hospital. The smell of antiseptic hits Aurora and she twitched her nose in slight disgust, the walls of the hospital brought back bad memories, one that she didn't want to recall. Indigo pouted at her sister. "Any man would want to marry me, unlike you-" Her words were cut off as Aurora revealed her the marriage certificate. "Do you mind repeating that?" Aurora rolled her eyes and said with a sarcastic tone. Indigo was stunned, she immediately grabbed the certificate to check it. "You and Kiaus got married?! When?" "About an hour ago." Aurora giggled, the stunned expression on her sister's face pleased her greatly. "Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. Where is he? Why didn't he come along?" "He had to attend to something important." The smile on her face faltered a little as they arrived at her father's room, he was asleep on the bed and couldn't acknowledge her presence. " Would dad be fine?" "The surgery is important." Indigo's undertone had a lot of meanings. The two women kept talking, the conversation switched back to Aurora's marriage and the smile on her face didn't falter for a moment. Hours paused without their notice, and they would have kept talking nonstop but Aurora's phone had to ring at that moment. Seeing the unknown number on the caller ID, Aurora completely ignored it but the caller was very persistent as he called over and over again. "It's probably your ex who can't get over you." Indigo joked as the phone rang for the sixth time. Aurora had no other choice but to answer the phone. "Hello-" She suddenly stood up, the smile on her face froze and the phone fell from her grip. Aurora swayed lightly, so Indigo immediately held her steady.
