I Accidentally Overdid It

The Dark Two-tailed Wolves.

The beasts sizes are similar to a young normal Grey wolf and they generally operates in group. They are just like dogs but more faster. They might be small but extremely dangerous.

Clop, clop, clop. The thumping sounds of their feet are closing into Theo and Clara's vision.

There are five numbers of them. 

"Ge- get behind me..." Theo ordered Clara.

His voice shook as he spoke. Tiny drops of sweat appeared on his face. The girl was petrified in fear and had her eyes shut. 

Then, the Alpha who seems to be their leader of the packs howled signalling to the others to strike first. Soon, two of them shoot out after the two children.

Their razor fangs coated with sticky saliva gave an intimidating look that made Theo's legs trembling in fear. Theo then shook his head.

No...he should not die here, there are promises he needs to keep. He must fulfil his promises or not the others would forever be stuck there and if that happened he would never forgive himself.

 However, as the two wolves flew in their directions, Death was flashed before his eyes. 

.....

Tears dropped from his face, he held tightly to Clara's hand and cracks a painful smile.

"Sorry..." He let out his last word and closed his eyes.

.....

*splat!!!!!!!

Soon, dark red sprays out like a fountain and covered their body.

The two of the wolves were cut into pieces and flew to the nearest tree.

*gasp *gasp

While straightening his arm straightforward, stood a young child who seems to be gasping out of breath.

"I barely made it...." He expressed it with such a grateful smile.

"Ezra!!!" Both of them shouted.

Ezra who was looking for them merely made it to the scene, if he was just late a few seconds both of them might end up being dead meat.

*gasp *gasp 

He scanned his area, even they are in the forest it was quite a spacious area. This is good, at least they are not going to be attacked in a blind spot.Ezra thought to himself and walked toward Theo and Clara.

The other wolves seem to be shocking too. They took a step backwards. Are they in a confusion to see a child capable of casting magic? Perhaps, but they didn't show any sign of retreating.

"Hey, Theo throw the long tree branches next to you to me now." He said in a serious tone.

"Yo- you mean this one?...well here" He threw it to him.

I never thought that I will be using these so soon. He thought to himself. It also could be seen that he was smiling a bit. Was he enjoying this kind of perilous circumstances?

Of course, he was bored throughout those four years to be stuck in an infant state and what can he do, it was inevitable for him.

Then, he flowed his mana into the branches that he was holding in his right hand. It slowly changed its shapes into a long wooden spear.

He makes a couple of swings with his wooden spear and then stood up in his fighting stances. "Now, it's time to apply what dad had taught me." He said while locking his eyes towards the wolves.

All three of them gave a powerful howling that blew all the dust in its way. Then, two of the wolves began to dash from the rear while the Alpha headed towards him from the fronts.

"Alright, you guys should watch it from the above." He said.

Then, a vortex of wind circling Theo and Clara and lift them onto a tree. 

Ezra touched the ground and cast a spell. Countless green vines grew, they intertwined with each other and continue to grow towards the wolves on his rear.

The best way to deal with a swift-moving enemy is to restrict their movement.

The vines wouldn't hold for a long time but it was enough to buy some time for Ezra to confront one-on-one with the Alpha.

He darted towards the big-sized wolf at super-fast speed with the support of his wind magic. Then, he strengthens his arm with mana at the same time, embedded his spear with it.

Then, he clashed with the wolf's steel fangs.

Both of them were thrown afar from each other but he doesn't stop yet. He dashed again and thrust the edge of the spear at its heart.

*thwack

He missed it, the wolf evaded and hit its shoulder.

The beast emitting a strong mana wave and pushed Ezra a few meters from its distance.

The spear seems to be stuck there on its shoulder but the Alpha pulled it out with its jaws.

*A-wuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

Ezra looked from his back, the two wolves already broke free from the vines.

This is why spear is inefficient, that was the first thing that came into his head. 

The wolves circling him like vultures trying to catch their prey.

He blasted numerous water droplets that were formed out of thin air towards the wolves. It's only scratching them. 

However, that was not Ezra main attack it was just an attack to stall his opponent.

"Hah, good finally it's done."

As the wolves dashed towards him at the same time, A green light mana appeared on the ground without warning, his eyes glow into emerald green.

[Wind Vortex]

Then, surged out a powerful maelstrom of the whirlwind and carried the wolves up. The whirlwind contains a lot amount of thin condensed air that moves swiftly and coherently thus it's sliced and shattered their body into million pieces and soon it rained bloodshed.  

*tap *tap

*gasp 

Did I overdo it? Huh? He felt numb in his fingers and his eyelids became heavy. Then, his consciousness slowly fading.

Ha ha ha ha....shi-

He was having a lot of fun, he didn't realise that it had drained all of his mana. He forgot that this was not his previous body. Then, he fell to the surface.

"Hey kiddo, Wake up! Wake up!" calling Ayrel.

"??" 

"Huh? Wha- what's going on?" Steel was still sleepy.

" Hey, we gotta save Youm and Gren"

"Wh- why Ryan?" 

"Shhhh... a beast is sneaking into our cabin, here take this." 

Ryan gave a plastic knife to Ayrel. Huh? What can this plastic knife do to a magical beast? 

"Mmm..Ryan I-I don't think this is going to wor-"

" Shhh...just come with me kiddo"

Both of them sneak to the door room and open it.

"You see that table, I want you to walk to it, be the bait" 

Huh? Are you crazy? Ayrel gave him a dazed look of bewilderment.

"Don't worry, I got your back" he reassured with an enigmatic smile.

*gulp

Ayrel then sneaks towards the table and suddenly....

*the lights turn on

He was surprised by the light flashes.

"Happy Birthday Ayrel!" The three of them shouted.

It was Ayrel seventh birthday.

This surprise had given him an unknown joy. He was beyond delighted. 

"Now, cut the cake!"

"No, wait he was supposed to blow the candles first." 

"So, where are the candles?"

"Sorry...I forgot to buy it"

Both of them gave Ryan a death stares.

*giggles

"It's okay, we don't need the candles" Ayrel said while giving a warm chuckle.

"Awww, our Ayrel finally turn 7 years old." 

"Go on make a wish onto this finger" 

Ryan held his index finger upward and there also fire lighting up as a replacement for the candle.

"...I wish that we can stay together and forever...And I wish- I could find daddy and mommy soon." He let out his deepest wishes and blew the candles.

*puff

"Of course, we will find them." The three of them said in unison.

"Are you leaving for another quest?" Ayrel asked them.

"Yeah, don't worry we will come back tomorrow" Said Ryan.

"So, you stay good with Uncle Tom, okay" Added Youm.

Uncle Tom looked like he was entering the age of forties. He works as a merchant.

Whenever they headed for the quest, they will leave Ayrel to him.

Uncle Tom stood up and walked towards them.

He whispered.

"Are you sure you guys wanted to take this quest" 

"Don't worry we just investigate it, we can retreat if the Organisation involved with the case of the missing children...either way, they provide a lot of rewards just for a few reliable pieces of information. We must make it so that we can use it for the travel expenses to find Ariel's parents." Youm explained to him.

"Don't worry about it, not just us, we are forming a party of twelve people A-Rank Adventurers, we will be fine." 

"If that so, then I pray for your safe return" 

Then, three of them headed towards their quest.Ayrel waves his hands as a goodbye to them.................  And that was his last time seeing them.
