Zack ran his fingers through his hair. He was exhausted and jittery from all the coffee he had consumed. The only good thought he had was about the tight hug and kiss that Jen had given him when she dropped him off.
Justin had found Gwen and brought her in. Another state trooper had stopped by the police department in Kalispell and picked up the phones of the two men who had attacked that were in evidence.
The phones did not have a password, so they opened them. Sure enough, when they compared Gwen’s phone to theirs, they found Gwen had called one of them minutes after she left the safe house. When Zack questioned her, she was tearful and said, “They said they just wanted to talk to him, that no one would get hurt.”
