Chapter 17
Zack was surprised when Jen called and asked him to come over. When he saw her name on the caller ID, he felt his heart rate jump a little. He answered with a smile but quickly realized something was wrong. Her voice sounded stressed. She asked if he would come over when he had time. He told her he could come right away. She volunteered to barbecue some burgers. It was an easy sell.
When he arrived, she greeted him warmly, but he clearly saw something was wrong. She put her fingers to her lips and motioned for him to come over and look under the kitchen counter.
He was surprised to see a surveillance bug and wondered why anyone would want to listen to her conversations.
