The Beginning...
Frantic pounding reverberated through the night, shattering the eerie silence that enveloped the imposing estate. A woman, her face etched with desperation, stood outside the grand entrance, clutching onto a bewildered young girl. Each knock grew more forceful, demanding attention, as if the very fabric of the night trembled under her urgency. Finally, the door groaned open, revealing a towering figure adorned with scars that whispered tales of a violent past.
"What the hell do you want?" he grumbled, his eyes flickering with a mix of indifference and curiosity as he surveyed the unexpected visitors.
Without a moment's hesitation, the woman forcefully thrust the young girl towards him, along with a bulging duffle bag. "This is Ella, your goddamn daughter. I can't handle her anymore," she spat, her voice dripping with frustration.
A surge of fury coursed through him, his grip tightening on the woman's shirt, keeping her firmly in place. "You think I'm just gonna take her? I don't even know who the f**k you are," he growled, his voice oozing with menace. His gaze shifted to the young girl, his expression softening ever so slightly. "What's your name?" he asked, his tone gentler.
"Um... it's Ella," she stammered, her voice trembling with a mix of shyness and apprehension.
"Ella..." The man repeated, his glare piercing through her mother as he maintained his hold on her. After a moment of contemplation, a spark of vindictiveness ignited within him. Leon, a man known for his calculated decisions, made up his mind. Pushing the woman aside, he guided Ella inside with utmost care. "You can go," he said to her mother, his voice laced with a cold finality, before turning and slamming the door shut in her face.
Ella lingered near the door, shyly clutching her duffle bag. "Are you really my dad?" she cautiously inquired, as the bag was deftly snatched from her.
"Yeah," he confirmed, though his tone suggested it was a bothersome truth. "I don't want you lugging that around, need to check for anything sketchy," he clarified, leaving the girl puzzled.
"I...don't get it...why would there be something sketchy in my bag?" She questioned, sounding perplexed.
Leon unzipped the bag with a swift motion, his eyes scanning its contents. But his excitement quickly turned to disappointment. "Is this all you got?" he asked, a tinge of worry creeping into his voice.
Ella nodded slowly, uncertainty etched on her young face. "Yeah..." she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Leon muttered to himself, frustration evident as he zipped the bag shut. "Your mom did the right thing bringing you here. But if this is all she left you with, it makes me question her abilities as a parent."
Ella fell silent, her mind swirling with confusion. She struggled to decide whether to believe Leon's words or remain loyal to her mother. The years had been tough, but her mother had always done her best, given the circumstances. Ella's eyes darted around, her thoughts in disarray, as if her entire world was crumbling before her.
"Hey..." Leon suddenly crouched down beside Ella, his voice softer. "I know we're strangers, but you're safe here. Your mother will be taken care of, even if she doesn't deserve it. And as for you? You'll have the chance to live out the rest of your childhood the way you should."
Ella trembled, her body tense with fear, as if something Leon had said had triggered a deep-rooted emotion within her. "Are you going to hurt me?" she asked, her voice quivering, desperately trying to hold back tears.
"What? No, no. Let me try again," Leon hurried to reassure, gently pulling the young girl into his arms. Patting her back, he tried to calm her down. But, to his surprise, she broke down in tears in his embrace. "Hey, hey..." He whispered softly. "Hey, no one's gonna hurt you." A hush fell over them as Ella slowly relaxed and nestled into his arms.
"You...you won't?" She murmured, looking up at him.
"I won't," Leon reassured. "Come on, let's get you to your room." Pausing, he stood up and pulled a black box from his pocket. Pressing a button, he waited as several men rushed to him.
"What's the deal, boss?"
They all asked at once, asif they were all synced up. "I want you to take one of the empty rooms and makeit presentable for my daughter," Leon ordered.
