Is my mate okay?

838 Words
Jordan’s POV: I awoke to a distant feeling. My mate. "Jo, you okay?" I glanced up to see my childhood best friend, Alexandria, standing in the doorway. "Fine, I just have this hollow feeling inside." She looked at me in alarm. "Jo, do you know what this means? Your mate has finally come of age! Oh my gosh! I need to plan the party so that you can find her. I bet you'll find her at the pa-mmmh" I tackled her, covering her mouth and sitting on her. "No. There will be NO party. I refuse to have a party just to find my mate. I don't even know if she lives near our pack." Alex nodded, making a slightly disappointed sound. I got up, wanting to get dressed. "Alex, go get the best guards we have. I want to see them outside of Father's office in one hour. Understood?" Alex made a face of slight discomfort because I used my alpha voice, but nonetheless, she nodded her understanding. "On it alpha." As she quickly got up and ran out, I followed her to the door. I locked it before changing into a black tee and blue jeans. I brushed my teeth, did my hair and slipped on my black doc martins. I jogged down to my father's office. Knocking, I took a breath. Upon hearing the faint 'come in,' I walked into my father's office. "Good morning son. What brings you into my office?" Father barely glanced up, noting who walked in. My father, a 65 year old male alpha, was a tall man. He stood at a solid 6'3, while I was 6'1. He had already started to grey, knowing that I needed to find my mate quickly. "Father, I think my mate has become of age." That made him look up staring directly into my eyes. Suddenly, he started to laugh. "Finally. It's about time you find her. So Jordan, who is she?" I stared at him, confusion evident on my face. "Didn't you just say you found your mate?" I wanted to run away. My father had misheard me. "No, I said that she is now of age." "Well then. Do you have an idea of who she is?" The shake of my head had him sighing. "Father, Alex is gathering our best guards. I wish to have some accompany me while I search for her." "Jordan, are you sure you want to do that?" "Yes Father, without a doubt. I need to find her." One final hesitation before father finally agreed. "Just make sure you let your mother and I know when your leaving." "Yes Father." Just then, Alex knocked and walked in. "Good morning alphas. I gathered the best guards we have, with the help of my own father. Would you like us to bring them in?" I glanced at my father, hoping he'd let me pick who was coming with me. "Yes, please bring them in." James, my father's beta, walked in. He had about 10 guards following him. "Guards, I need three of you accompany my son." I was quick to interrupt, mindlinking my mother to come to father's office. "Father, if I may interrupt. I'd like to pick the guards coming with me." Mother walked in, clearly just having woken up. "Mother, I have decided to go search for my mate. She is now of age." My mother from me, to my father, to Alex and her father, to the guards, then back to me. "Jor, it's dangerous. Are you sure?" I nodded to my mother, not wanting her to panic. "Alright then, but, I'd like to pick at least one guard doing with you, and see who is going with you." I rolled my eyes but agreed. "Father, you pick one, and I'll pick one. That means that I will have three guards." I chose one of my favorites, Marco. Father chose his personal best, Kyle. Mother, having only trusted one of the men in the room, chose her brother Hayden. "Go pack, we will be leaving after lunch." With that dismissal, all the guards in the room left. I glanced at my parents. "I do hope you plan to at least take Alex or someone your age. Don't want you losing your mind while searching for your mate." I groaned, knowing that Alex would probably drive me more crazy. "Mother, I'll take Alex. I do request that as soon as we get back, I get the privacy of at least a week with my mate. I truly don't know what her condition is, but something tells me that she's not going to be easy." With that, I grab Alex by the arm and walk out the door, leaving my parents and her father rather confused and concerned. "Go get ready, I'll do the same. I don't think we have a lot of time." I turned and went straight to my room, grabbing random articles of clothing and stuffing them in bags. I sighed, well. Here goes nothing.
