James ignored my words and continued to caress my hair until I fell asleep. When I woke up my bags were packed with a note laying on top. "Use the red Mercedes to take you home. I can't go with you, so be careful. If you need me just break the chain on the necklace I gave you, but only if it is life or death.". I looked down at the necklace. It must be some sort of tracking device. How romantic, not. I should have known. It's still beautiful, though. I look around hoping to catch a glimpse of James before I leave. I finally give up and head to the garage.
James POV
I was torn. I wanted to lock her up and forbid her to leave, but I knew she'd never forgive me. I had so many thoughts running around in my head. I slammed my fist into the wall and the stone crumbled. What if she decided not to come back? What if Mason took her? What if she went to him willingly? That thought tore a roar from my throat. I want to go with her, but the Summer Solstice is starting. I won't be able to control my transformation. I will be even more dangerous to her than that bastard Mason.
Carra's POV
It was a fourteen hour drive to the hospital my mom was in. I was exhausted when I got there, but wanted to see Mom before I looked for a hotel. I asked information where she was. They directed me to ICU. She woke when I entered the room. Her face broke out in a tender smile when she saw me. I ran to her side and hugged her with tears streaming down my face. She weakly stroked my back. Then her eyes closed and her hand drop to her side. I started frantically yelling, "Mom! Mom! Don't die!". A young nurse, alerted by my pleas, walked in. "Stop screaming , young lady. She's not dead! She's just resting. Visiting hours are over. You can come back tomorrow.". She then shewed me out of the room. I felt completely drained all of a sudden. I was so tired I could barely drive myself to a hotel. Once there I checked in and went straight to my room. I woke up disoriented the next day. Then it all came crashing back. I jumped up and looked at the clock. It was 2:00 in the afternoon. How did I sleep so long? I took a quick shower and dressed. I still felt tired and weak. I thought, I must be coming down with something. I drove to the hospital. I was in a hurry to see my mom. I never made it that far. As soon as I got out of the car two guys approached me with a sinister smirk. They lunged for me. I thought I could easily fight off a couple of goons, but I was too weak and my magic seemed non-existent. What was wrong with me. Tears of frustration were forming, when I remembered my necklace. I yanked it off my neck just as a punch to my face turned my world black.
I was tied up in the back seat of a sedan when I woke up. I quietly tried to free myself. I didn't want my captors to know I was awake. Then I heard their conversation and froze. "Mason is gonna promote us once he sees what were bringing him. I thought she'd be a lot harder to subdue. He talks about her like she's really powerful or something. What the f***?". Then all heard was tires squealing and people screaming. We ran off the road and my head slammed into my door. The last thing I remember before I lost consciousness is the feeling of being wrapped in a warm blanket that smelled so familiar. I snuggled deeper and gave into the darkness.
