XXIXNot being a fan of the show, Bethan wasn’t up to speed with how the whole concept worked. As far as the viewer was concerned, this was just a one-sided conversation, coupled with the relative who agreed or disagreed with what Dulcie said. How anybody was supposed to buy it as being genuine was a mystery to Bethan.
“Now, we have a photograph of these two I’d like to show you.” Dulcie looked up at the screen, and the photo of Jean and Alec at the picnic came up. “What a beautiful and happy looking couple, don’t you agree?”
The audience nodded and agreed, and some even clapped their hands.
“I like her,” whispered Alec and took Jean’s hand.
